As the time goes on, the blob alters the bodies of the dead into terrifying new forms, some stronger, some faster, some tougher, all deadlier. However, who’s to say that the player won’t change as well? When a player reaches a milestone in a skill (10 or higher), they should receive a trait relevant to that skill (ex. tailoring would get stylish, cooking would get gourmand). I’m actually not to sure how to balance this idea, so maybe the above traits should be blocked at character generation or maybe unique traits should be given?
Only thing that makes sense to me really is dodging can make you get parkour expert and maybe a melee skill might get you a martial art similar to brawling for unarmed.
Scout, Skilled Liar, Deft, Skater, Autodoc Specialist, Addiction Resistant, Tough Feet, Packmule, Outdoorsman, Indefatigable, Light Step, Accomplished Sleeper and Fast Reader/Leaner could all be acquired one way or another (mutations aside ofc).
Stylish, Gourmand, Bookworm and etc are more about your character’s personality than anything else, and not really tied to skill levels. A person can become any of those, but it’s not something that happens overnight (unless the player finally discovers the joys of cooking through necessity or something).
If you receive a trait by reaching that a skill threshold, then it should also bring a negative mutation too, such as tailoring bringing fancy, but also that negative trait towards filthy clothing… Cook gets gourmand, but receives fast metabolism. Honestly with how old the game is, I would believe they would’ve added it sooner, but if you get an overpowered trait for reaching a skill threshold, then there would have to be a setback. My uneducated guess is that with how much is could make sense, it wouldnt be added, or new “mutations” would have to be added to balance it.
The devs aren’t fans of earning purchasable traits through actions after character creation (CC). They’re fine with unique post CC traits that don’t overlap with purchasable traits though.
Would still be an interesting mod to make. I’ll poke into the code a bit and see if I can come up with something.

Alright how about this: upon reaching certain milestone in a skill, say bashing, there would be like a passive bonus when doing the related activity. For example, increased crit chance when using a crowbar or something for bashing.
Well, its basically does that already, the description gives a really broad description, but yeah, it basically increases every stat for ranking up bashing…
Like a milestone rewards; you got this high, get a larger bonus to hitting harder.
