Nope it wears off after a while. It’s the same syndrome that’s caused by faffing about with teleporters, the so-called teleportitis.
The extensions to the original categories haven’t yet landed. The additional categories (some of which include new mutations) are in 0.9 stable. None are yet on the wiki, so far as I know, because I haven’t finished and didn’t want to have to go back and redo if something needs rebalanced.
Got any questions, just ask.
hey do i get water from funnels? do i have to drop a container on the square with the funnel then wait for it to fill up?
Yeah. Pay attention because if the rain goes Acid there’s a chance (proportional to the timing and container-storage) that it’ll acidify the whole thing.
ok about how long do i have to wait?
Fair while, unfortunately: the collection rate wasn’t so fast last I heard. Just stay somewhat close to your base so you can run back and retrieve if the weather goes bad.
kk and what skills do i need to be now to make a stone pot?
nvm figured it out
Ok, I’ve had it up to here with these bears. Is there any way to turn down ambient wildlife spawning? I clearcut the northern section of a city with my flammenschwert and now I feel I would’ve been better off with the bloody zombies beating on my door. Zombies can be sort of dangerous, but they’re nowhere near as annoying as stepping out of your base five steps and being attacked by three wolves, two bears, two moose and a sewer rat. At the same time. It kinda breaks suspension of disbelief, and while the meat is welcome the number of animal spawns seem excessive, even on 1.0 spawn multiplier (and I want my zombie spawns to stay as they are, thanks!)
Dynamic spawns are tied to noise, so maybe you are doing something loud?
Otherwise, yeah being in one place for a while you get a lot of big enemies. Just need big weapons to deal with them. Consider installing windows, or traps to avoid the “bear/moose/cougar/wolf doorman” problem.
So I walked into a military bunker and found 2 Granades. Would using a Granade(and getting the Buff effect) count against being a purest?
As far as I know the buff is neither mutation nor a CBM.
well, it may explode. not all are buffers.

I guess only you can judge it for yourself, Granade is kind of a Easter Egg you take advantage of it, doing so MAY count as breaking the rule, but the definition of ‘purist’ is rather flexible.
Also Granade may nerf you instead so it kinda balance out.
But if you ask me, using Granade is a gamble I’d rather not take part in, but taking part in it isn’t breaking the purist conduct IMHO.
Talking about conduct, it would be cool if CDDA have conduct tracking too, like NetHack, for various kinds of bizarre challenges.
Could be useful for finding out just how much crap I have to contact the wish granter conjure to build the RMCC…
So I’m planning on destroying my friendly neighborhood triffid grove, and I’m not exactly sure what I should get in terms of preparation. I’m a mainly melee focused character, I have a broadsword and (rarely used) hydraulic muscles that have gotten me through everything so far, but I’d like to destroy it for a) loot (Not sure if there is any of this…) or b) being able to say I destroyed it. So, what would you guys recommend I pick up in terms of gear and skills before I go in?
EDIT: Also, I’ve found a functional military cargo truck with some fuel in a hazardous waste sarcophagus, but all of the consoles are dead and I’m not sure if I can (or how to) open the big metal doors to get it out. Do I need to hack into the console in the main building for that?

When it comes to triffid groves, I normally go in with a pile of manhacks (or a turret, or a nodachi), an SMG, some molotovs, and an armored vehicle.
My method of getting that truck out of the HWS would be to blow the doors open with explosives and/or just drive it straight through.
Keep in mind this might involve the vehicle exploding, or the roof falling on top of you or the vehicle, or a dual jabberwock and zombear ambush (lured by the noise), so if it’s at all possible try hacking the door open or finding a jackhammer.

Triffids: well, the fungal fighters are new but apart from that (mob that’s worth harvesting) I think everything I said on the wiki’s guide remains applicable?
I’d opt for a flammenschwert over the nodachi, but apart from that, fire, demo, and teargas are your friends. Generally better not to make noise when entering, and keep in mind that triffids are blind. Use as much light as you need.
I’m back baby.
Why the FUCK are broadswords so OPed? I have like 3-5 torso encumbrance at all times and can 2 shot a regular zed.
I haven’t noticed them being any better than katanas. I switched over to one because it fit my new look, but I haven’t noticed any change to my zombie-killing and the stats look similar. Am I missing something?
I recently found the bionic “Fingertip Razors,” and I went ahead and installed them because fuck yeah Lady Deathstrike, but I can’t find out the stats on them. Does anybody know? Also, is there a way that I can check and see if they’re active with my current hand-wear?
I had a lot of trouble with triffid groves at first and I found the challenge of figuring out how to beat them to be very rewarding when I eventually worked out a consistently workable method. Also, the methods that I used to beat them before I figured out how were fun (I burned a forest to the ground to kill one, and nuked the second ). Read on at your own risk.
Surface Level: pretty much anything will get you to the stairs. If you can fight off the average zombie swarm you’ll be fine.
First interior level: triffids and the sap-casters will go down easily enough to your broadsword, although having a high-powered ranged weapon can save you a lot of damage against the sap-casters. Just don’t get surrounded. To get through this level alive, you’ll need the ability to kill an enemy from at least four squares away in order to deal with the creeper vines. Kill the hubs to destroy their active vines and stop the vines from spreading. The ability to clear low-health minions quickly will be helpful to let you get close enough to get line of sight: smgs, small-caliber pistols, explosives, that sort of thing.
Second level: pretty much the same as the first level, except you’ll also need the ability to get through un-bashable walls. The Triffid Heart will close off your path to it and if you want to kill it you’ll need to break down the wall or teleport through it. I typically use C4. Fight your way to the Heart and kill it to cut off the spawn of reinforcements, and be ready for some tough fighting as you make your escape: killing the Heart spawns more monsters in the dungeon behind you.
It should go without saying, but this is an interior dungeon, so do not use fire.
They came with the CBM: Protective Lenses for your eyes, so it’s less Lady Deathstrike and more Molly Millions; the literary source of both bionics.
They add an extra four points of slashing damage to unarmed attacks, which applies automatically so long as your hands are not encumbered.
Thanks They work through 0-encumbrance gloves, too?
