Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

ok so i found a car that has a faulty engine but i dont have the skills or resources to fix it, everything else is workable… however seems that it wont start, will it ever start or will i need to repair it to get it working?

Damaged engines or vehicles can make a car fail to start once or 4 times. But it will start, as long as it doesn’t eat all the batteries failing.

Faulty engines might start,m depending upon the faults. We used to be able to see automatically what fault the engine had, making this easy, but …

Crappy batteries can force you to keep a working , good order, engine on in order to keep it turning.

So in short, maybe. give it a go or three, if you can afford the time and noise. But dont hang around waiting for it to.

middle of nowhere next to a mine so im fine here,

faults are drive belt, air filter, and fuel pump, battery is damaged but not saying any faults, the engine itself is undamaged

engine makes a rappid clicking sound when i try to turn it on

and its battery is dead… how do i use jumper cables with that charging CBM?

With those faults, the engine will never start. I’m pretty sure you need at the very least a new drive belt and fuel pump. They can both be crafted if you have the skills, though it might be easier to just steal a working engine from another car.

The charging CBM charges your internal bionic power from a vehicle, but not the other way around. If the battery is completely dead, you’re probably best off finding another vehicle with some charge left and removing it’s battery.

would help if i had a welder oh well

guess ill just have to make do with this shopping cart that i thought was a part of the nearby fully working bike with a hole in its fuel tank

You can make a makeshift welder so long as you have level 2 mechanics and one of the mechanics skill books, Under the Hood is the easiest to find but you can also find the recipe in Mechanical Mastery and Welding and Metallurgy. Just be sure you have plenty of batteries.

How bad is the leak? Even spewing fuel it might have enough range to get you where you need to go. I’ve had bikes that took absolutely memeworthy amounts of punishment before they became useless to me.

not sure didnt try, i do know that 37% of a 10L tank was empty after nights rest

now to make a pedal bike with an alternator and a recharge station so i wont have to eat up my batteries…

how do i get concentrated acid outside of scrapping car batteries? i remember some years back it wasnt too hard when acid rain was a thing and funnels could collect it

Pretty sure you can use 125 regular batteries. Other than that you’re stuck crafting it from scratch. Or you could see what happens when you take a tree spile to an acidic zombie…

(Note: Don’t try the latter. It’ll get you killed.)

from scratch?

also making it from batteries sorta defeats the purpose as i want to make batteries for when i cant find them

You can craft it with out of acid water, which itself can be crafted with a chemistry set and water. Think you need Advanced Chemistry Book or Chemistry Textbook for the latter.

I almost exclusively use vinegar for making batteries, as you can produce it in enormous quantities out of fruit (I think you need 4 cooking to make fruit wine must, and 2 construction to make fermenting vats). It’s also not uncommon to find gallon jugs full of it in houses and other places with fridges.

I’m pretty sure if you have a level or two in mechanics you can make makeshift versions of a drive belt and air filter, not sure about anything else though.

Except I think you need a specific book for those. I think it was called ‘army field repairs’ or something along those lines.

I was able to craft the makeshift parts with only 2 mechanics. The book doesn’t seem to be necessary for them, though I think it also serves to train your mechanics to 2.

do i need to have wheels to get pedals to power a battery?

Nope, you just need the pedals and an alternator, I think.

Is there a way to plant crops in winter?

Is there a way to convert underground floors in a lab into farm-able land?

Do underground farms (e.g. basements) need light to grow crops?

considering that i managed to start the engine i found i guess there was a little bit of power

how do i figure out what artifacts do?

i found a glowing tube with 3 charges, every time i activate it it blinds me for a bit then steals some health…

Artificial night generator tips and tricks:

Artificial night generator can let you get close enough to turrets to use a control laptop.

Using artificial night generator in conjunction with a control laptop, let’s you keep all 6 turrets from a bunker instead of loosing half of them when they shoot each other.

If hit with the glowing effect, artificial night generator will negate the effect. It also blinds everyone including you, but it’s a relative improvement during night raids.
