Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

How many solar panels would you need to make an electric engine viable? Seems like even diesel is available in sufficient quantities.

for me 12 solar panels and large power storage is more than enought, my truck (large engine) can drive and fire its pulse lasers for weeks all while it have its headlights and camera system on of course it have backup diesel and gasoline engines but i do not use them anyway

Newb question about vehicles. I mostly avoided them before, since they were a pain to operate, repair and find in a working condition, but i recently found a nice pickup truck… but, i am a bit confused about it’s storage. Other vehicles have a trunk that can be closed, but a pickup has open storage space - it would make sense if my items started to fall out of it when driving too fast(since they aren’t tied down or anything) but… do they? Or is that aspect of physics not in the game?

Something very bad has happened. After a very long hiatus, I updated my much older Experimental version to the newest one, and my vehicle disappeared. It says vehicle not found as a error message, why is this? Was there some update that conflicted with my vehicle?

no, items do not fall unless cargo part (trunk, shooping cart basket, box, cargo space) is completly destroyed

and actualy vehicles are realy easy to maintain only problem is fuel and fuel is not rare too

most of challenge to make a car is finding tools

All you need is two EMP grenades and electrohack. Just be carefull not to get shoot, mil. turrets from that close are mostly insta-“Watch last moments of your life” things. Also, “poke around” (default shift+x, afair) is your best frend.

Actually, if you’re using it as a generator (that is, you’re just getting electricity from it, not movement), you’d want to use the smallest engine you can find, as the alternator output won’t get higher with stronger engines, but the fuel usage does.

Where do I find small metal tanks after recent changes to said tanks?

They are plastic jerrycans now.

I thought they were Metal Tank (2L)?

They are plastic jerrycans now.

O.o what?

Yea, they standardized gas containers to other fluid holders.

Meaning gas containers hold less.

but METAL gas tanks are now PLASTIC jerrycans? Not metal jerrycans?

Look under you car when you get the chance. 9/10 the gas tank is made of plastic.

Partly because the weight of metal. Or the chance of sparks. Or the excess heat that metal can conduct

Makes sense… So the material used is a plastic jerrycan and it makes a plastic gas tank then? There are no more metal gas tanks?

I guess drums are. And probably small(er) tanks

Did you test it?
Last time I tested it, 1-cylinder and V8 were equally as efficient, only V12 used more because of that 1% cap thing and that was only those V12 with displacement of more than 10 liters. That was with truck alternator - smaller alternators have lower needs but also worse ratios, meaning they’re less useful as generators.

So I need to make a still, does the plastic jerrycan thing mean I’m screwed?

Looks like it.
There is only one recipe for the plastic jerrycan and it takes duct tape and 4 gallon jugs. And each gallon jug takes 15 plastic chunks to produce.

We should probably do something about that plastic conversion thing.
Gallon jug takes (and returns on salvage) 15 volume units of solid plastic, as if it was all solid plastic.
Cutting up a jerrycan returns 40 plastic chunks - 10 liters of solid plastic.

or 4 plastic bottles, or 8 small plastic bottles if memory serves. Still, kinda shitty that that is the only way to make gas tanks now. Looks like till it gets a little loving savaging other vehicles for gas tanks is going to be pretty big. What about the larger gas tanks? Also plastic? whats the recipe there?
