Is there a list of planned features and additions anywhere, or is every new release full of surprises?
Aside from keeping an eye on the suggestions section of the forum, and checking the issues on Github for any that are suggestions instead of bug reports/balance discussion…
My NPCs do not attack hostile NPCs is that a bug or has it not been implemented yet?
You may have to talk to them and change their combat commands, should be the first talking point when you talk to them. Set it up how you like, if they are not attacking afterwards then i dont have a clue. Some times mine like to hang back and not attack but most of the time if there is multiple zombies coming they lend a hand.
I’ve asked a question about my only NPC companion mysteriously disappearing earlier and I still haven’t found him. He disappeared 4-5 in-game days ago and I have managed to explore about a quarter of the closest size-4 city, and haven’t found another static NPC like him.
Where do these spawn aside from big survivor camps? What special building should I be looking for?
As far as I know, just big survivor camps and wherever a player spawns.
Least, those are the only places I’ve found them.
Does unfermented vinegar require a special container of some sort, i made some and the wording in the description seems to be pointing towards puting it in a vat instead of the bottles i have it in.
Yup. Construct a fermenting vat in the construction menu.

He’s probably dead somewhere. Like, in an alley between some houses, while you were paying attention to something else. I’ve pretty much come to expect NPC’s to vanish over time and never appear again. Such is the life of the BANEBLADE CREW whenever they venture forth from their mobile fortress of doom and death.
Anyway, the building you’re looking for is the Refugee Center. It spawns with plenty of various NPCs, some factions, and a few mercenaries. I generally find the mercenaries to make for great Baneblade crewmembers, but their inability to wear power armour is pretty damning for anyone in my service. They just can’t survive combats that I could walk away from unscathed.
When I want npcs to wear specific clothing (like say, a splint when your arm is broken Erick!!! Put the damn thing on!) I use the debug menu. I don’s spawn the clothing, just force them to wear it.
Oh man i wish i would of known i could do that, spent half a day trying to get one of my npcs into my old gear when i upgraded my armor.

a) Emergency message
q) Shut down console
Are there specific skill requirements for the third option to appear, or am I just playing an outdated version which doesn’t have it?
I believe that it is a experimental version feature. Come to the experimental side we have cookies.
They attack Zds just fine but not hostile NPCs. I have not found a dialog option for attacking NPCs specifically.

Are you sure that he did not die? My NPC died when sleeping and I discovered it half a day later. I had forgot to clean his wound.
I find more NPCs randomly from dynamic NPC spawns. I know there are some in the refugee center that you can recruit for a cost.
I too am having problems with NPCs disappearing into thin air, for the second time in the same game I lost my buddy while crafting or moving stuff in my base.
From debug menu, they appear to be in the same map tile I am standing, but they’re nowhere to be found. Either they turned invisible or game got bugged.

I’ve been using the mobile app to play lately, but it’s some outdated experimental version as well.

We did fight a bunch of zombies though, maybe he was infected and I didn’t know it. I also have dynamic NPCs turned OFF, they cause me too much trouble when I activate them.

I heard you can make npcs read? Is this true? and if so, how?
I’m not clear if we need to wait for #14654 or if it’s already in but not well supported…
