Another question: What parts do I need to put into the Lootbox? FOODCO Kitchen Buddy, or RV Kitchen Unit? What other suchlike things are advisable?
Also, the current LootBox Mk III:
- this is basically just the frame, a Military Cargo Truck expanded by 1 tile to the back and armored fully in Military Composite.
Something I’m still iffy about is the front part, and the fact that the current position of the Driver’s Seat means I’d waste 2 tiles with surplus internal shutter doors. Also, I am not sure if putting the layer of quarterpanels before the windshields was advisable - do I need to move the windshields/seat/control/door 1 tile forward to accomodate, and remove quarterpaneling? I think that QPs and Windshields occupy the same layer, so I wasn’t sure

edit: Also, I can’t seem to re-install the Alternator after I removed the large diesel engine and replaced it with an Electric one.
Edit: I am an idiot, I didn’t install the new small Gasoline engine so there was nothing for the alternator to attach to. D’oh.
I’d move the seat to the middle of the vehicle. That way you could craft from the seat.
Use floor trunks for tiles you move over. They allow both storage and fast moving.
Typically mobile bases get an extra front layer with cheap (usually spiked) plating and heavy frames under it. In your case you could turn the quarterpanel layer into it. Quarterpanels on the ram are useful, because they prevent monsters from climbing on the vehicle, reaching the windshields.
As for craft parts: you certainly want a welding rig, FOODCO (kitchen if you can’t get FOODCO) and chemical rig. Optionally a minifridge and/or a vehicle forge.
Vehicle forges are quite useless if you’ve got an acetylene torch, though. They take a full tile and don’t have storage and aren’t used too often.
FoodCo Kitchen Buddy is a derpy little thing, it even says in the item description that you’d still need a hotplate (or kitchen unit) to do normal kitchen tasks. So I don’t care for it really.
A vehicle welding rig is the big Fun thing to add. If you’ve got it on all-electric solar power it’ll save you a lot of batteries/acetylene in the long run due to repairs.
Vehicle Welding Rig can be used while repairing the vehicle automatically, so long as you’re near it the repair will automatically give you the option of using it or any other valid welders/torches in use range. When used via the "e"xamine key it can instead be used to repair metal items in your inventory, like a soldering iron or such.
Don’t remind me, I’m only less than 1/4th done. I had to lug around 800 logs on a cargo carrier wheelbarrow, from a forest that was an in-game hour long journey on foot. And now I’m bringing doing the same with two by fours and roofing the place at the same time.
Yeah. In general, there’s also some heavy sticks lying around which could be used instead of two by fours, but I’m sticking with two by fours due to some imaginary sense of symmetry. Argarargh.
This actually kinda makes sense. With 2x4’s you can be assured that every one is going to fit nicely, where with random sticks you might need to do some extra fudging to get them all to fit together (and thus lose some more wood in waste).
I have a question about thermal clothing: is it better to craft the suit as a single item or equip all the parts seperatly?
which is more heat/energy efficient?
I want to say the entire outfit is more efficient. With it you don’t have to worry about managing multiple pieces with different power levels draining 4x the batteries, all the individual pieces combined and the outfit have the exact same maximum battery capacity (500). Plus it’s much easier to just install one rechargeable battery mod and throw it in your trunk. Of course if resources or time are an issue you could just craft the components individually and combine them later since crafting the suit straight up takes several hours.
