Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Ooh. Now maybe if Deft had some defensive benefit, it would be less full of fail.

Maybe making it so that deft chars can parry/dodge another attack with less penalty then one without would make the trait at least usable.

Okay, need some more help with the boxing-compatible weapons. Got to craft a couple of new weapons, and I was wondering if one of them should replace the punch dagger.

The first one I made was the cestus. No cut damage, and base damage is 13, no to hit bonus and slightly heavier and moves per attack is a bit higher or slower or something.

The other one is the razorbar katar, no bash damage, about half of the to hit bonus compared to the dagger, 92 moves per attack compared to the dagger’s 71. So far it can uppercut, but not sure if the counter cross will work. Also has parry. On the other hand, there’s also a chance for the weapon to get stuck. Damage is the highest. No bash, though crits still stun enemies, and cut damage is 17 compared to the stab damage of 11 from the dagger.

Last is the tiger claws; bash 1 cut 6… basically weaker than the dagger, but lighter, and 66 moves per attack.

So… should I keep on sticking to the punch dagger?

Upon checking, cross counter and jab activates on the katar.

i would use the tiger claws. speed > everything.

The tiger claws seem only a tiny bit faster than the punch dagger though; 66 moves for the claws while the dagger is 71, and the claws more or less have half the cut damage of the dagger’s stab.

I’d still pick the punch dagger other tiger claws, yeah.

Now if you used a style that gave Quick Strike, the extra boost in attacks-per-turn might balance out.

Which means yes, no-nonsense good old Krav Maga might be a great style for using fancy tiger claws. o3o

I would still prefer the tiger claws. Or go completely unarmed.

And the katar is definatly inferior to the punch dagger so i would suggest you stay with it.

As for stiles:

I would use stiles that provide counter attacks for fighting multiple foes and realy any other for single enemies.
With the current system decent armor negates pretty much every melee atack so it doesn t even matter how you fight .

Am I the only person who checks http://ci.narc.ro/job/Cataclysm-Matrix/changes

like 6 times a day? Even when I didn’t get around to playing the game for a few months, I still checked it several times a week. Its crazy what the devs have accomplished - I mean, I’m still getting used to things implemented /last fall/.

I do not check every change.
But i recocnyze the ammount of new experimental builds every day.
So i do not know what exactly gets changed all the time. But i know that work is beeing done constantly on cataclysm.

I like beeing suprised by new content ingame rather.

Yes, the amount of changes is astounding. I fear that by the time Series 2 of my mod’s PR gets merged, there’ll be more new content to worry about. >w>

Right, so somehow after a few tries I got it started. Said tries involved yet another tank drone death, then another death had me getting punched by a brute towards another brute who smashed me to the metal door of a gun store, and the ever popular moose death, I managed to go down the sewers.

After a bit of wandering, I came to a connecting tunnel towards the subway. The perfect place considering the circumstances - while running away and going through one house to another I found a pot and a canteen, and the plastic bottle of water I started with should keep me slaked. Food-wise I can go around and hunt some rats.

So there’s that. Somewhat shaky start, but hopefully it’ll be stable soon.

And soon you will become king of the kobolds.

I certainly damn hope so. I plan to repopulate this cataclysmic world alone, and being royalty should count for something.

In any case, luck has turned up a bit. As I was hunting for sewer rats and snakes to feast on, I came across a 30 gallon drum just sitting there, or floating there. Filled it with sewer water, and I got the components to clean it.

Food and water is taken care of, but still so many things to do. For starters, I need a lighter, as the matches will run out soon. Stuff to burn as well. A good knife might help, and components for a lightstrip would be good.

I think I could slowly lure out some zombies down into the sewers, kill them off one by one.

Ooh. Oh lure zombies down there, kill them, then neuter them with a knife until they start coming back harmless.

Well, that’s something that’s bound to backfire in some way.

Right, I’ll do it. Would be nice to enslave a hulk.

Hordes of adorable minions?

Or if you were using the necromancy, you could have less useless ones. Or if you had other mods in use, flint and steel would solve your fire problems. owo

Is there a possibility to disassemble a fireplace/kiln/metal versions of those/vat or do I have to smash it and hope I get most stuff back?

The last time i checked you couldn t disassemble them. I didn t check on the others but you couldn t even smash the fireplace…

Is repair nanobots supposed to not be able to fix broken bones? Its seems kinda odd, but I figured I’d bring it up here instead of elsewhere since it may be intended to work that way.

Hmm. Never tested them. I would suspect that if that’s the case, it’s likely intentional. As for the reasoning behind it, dunno. It would make sense if the limbs were outright GONE, but the ability to heal flatlined limbs with splints implies they’re merely broken.
