Is there any way of knowing how full a gaspump is?
Filling me ride is kinda troublesome when one needs to go through EVERY pump to get to one that has gas (and ALWAYS is the last I try).
Also how many solarpanels can I add to my car and which part prevent adding a solarpanel?

so, weapons that do bosh bash and cut… do they do both every time, or is it sometimes one and sometimes the other? How does that interact with skills?

Also, if it’s both all the time, a weapon that is all of one type would seem to have an advantage over one that did the same damage (or even a bit more) split between both types, as armor would apply to both types (I assume), which the single-type one would only have armor apply once.

Also, some mechanic to allow spears to attack 2 spaces away would be nice.

So I plan to make a monster zoo of some sort. Is there any way to make the glass walls like the ones in labs, or am I left with only metal bars? Would be nice to keep a Hulk or a Jabberwock, but I doubt the metal bars would be able to hold them.

It’s situational. Bash is better against some monsters and cut is better against others.

Having vehicle issues here.

I found a semi truck on the road, and decided I would fix it up and turn it into a mobile base. After filling the diesel tank, I tried starting the engine. It didn’t work, all it said was that the engine was making a rapid clicking sound. I tried repairing the engine, alternator, and controls (repairing the engine wasn’t fun, considering I didn’t have the mechaic skill to repair it without removing it from the vehicle), and the engine still wouldn’t start. One last thing I noticed is that the security system was on yellow health.

Is the security system causing this clicking sound? Do I need to train up my Mechanic skill, come back, and remove the security system?

Did you check the battery? If the battery is damaged, they lose energy (like diesel tank leak if they are damaged). This really look like you have no energy in your car battery to start engine.

To resolve that, as you can repair things i assume you have some mechanic skills, you can remove a battery from other vehicle (choose one with some energy), install a solar panel or refill that battery with batteries (100 is enough to start engine).

If i have 2 engines in a vehicle, did i need to install a 2 alternators?

I haven’t been able to find any sand so I presume it’s been moved elsewhere? Where do you find sand now?

I get that, but it doesn’t really answer my question. If I have a weapon that does 10 bash and 10 cut, is it a bashing weapon or a cutting weapon? Does it do 20 damage a hit (10 of each), or does it do 10 damage a hit (sometimes bash, sometimes cut)?

dissaemble a sandbox (in a playground) - hundreds of sand per square.

How i add a custom profession? ( I want to start as miner, strike the earth! )

I wish to second deoxy’s question, I came here infact to ask that exact same thing.

Was debating whether the 20/20 (bash/cut) speed 142 Fire axe was better or worse than me awl pike at 8/28 (bash/pierce) 245 speed.

And Urist McKoga if you open your CDDA folder, then data, then json, you will see professions about a third a way up from the bottom. Open that and you can add in whatever profession you like. If you don’t know a whole lot about coding you can just look closely and copy the format of any of the other professions in there.

Both types at the same time. Both scale separately. Both gain xp, but the stronger type will gain more and the weaker will only gain xp if it deals enough damage.

As for spears: the PR (code that isn’t part of the mainline game) is already waiting for testing and merging. Here’s link if you want to read up on details:

No. Alternator has one job: transforming part of the engine power into electricity to charge batteries. If you have other ways of charging batteries and don’t need that extra power, you don’t need alternators. That said, if your engines are big enough, installing alternators on them won’t cause any extra fuel loss. A V12 can have a truck alternator “for free”.

8 is the cutoff value: below 8 bashing, a weapon is not a bashing weapon. Below 8 cutting, a weapon is not a cutting weapon. Knives and spears are always piercing weapons, regardless of damage.
Every time the weapon attacks, it deals both bashing and one of cutting or piercing damage (can’t both cut and pierce).

However the state of weapon being bashing, cutting etc. doesn’t mean that much - it only determines which skill does gain xp from it and which skill gives it accuracy bonus.

Each weapon skill scales the related weapon damage. So if you grind up piercing with a rapier and grab a morning star, its piercing damage will be enhanced even though it’s mostly a bashing weapon. The exception is unarmed weapons - those never use bashing skill for damage, but can still use it for accuracy (if their bashing damage is 8 or more).

Awl pike is awful. That attack time will kill you. It doesn’t have a reach attack (yet?), meaning every attack you make will get you at least 2 zed punches in the face.
Fire axe is quite bad (despite the stats) due to its low speed and the tendency to get stuck unless you’re very strong. You need good armor (with nearly 100% coverage on all body) to use it effectively.
If you don’t have a combat knife nearby, go with the fire axe, fists, baseball bat (preferably upgraded to nail/wire bat) or similar light weapon with good accuracy and low move cost.

So the awl pike is awlful?

Do irridated wanderers spawn infinitely? There’s a nearby crater, and it just seems that they keep popping up nearby. World is set on static spawn.

Oh wow I didn’t know it was that bad… thinking about how my 10 day character has used one since day 2 Guess I did it the hard way

On a slightly related note

I’ve used it for so long now on this character that I two shot Zombies, so yes it’s awful speedwise, but good damage wise. Though in my experience a good punch dagger is supreme.

I would assume if you get enough strength, slow speed becomes less of a liability. If you can kill nearly anything in one hit…

Does the Deft trait affect successful hits, or only misses?

Punch dagger on boxing seems to really work well together.

Anyways, with regards to mutated anatomy like antlers or hooves… Is there a set of clothing for them that’ll protect them from radioactive areas on par with a hazmat suit?

Does such a face palm I’ve been wearing a scabbard with a broadsword in it since I got that pike on day 2…

You won’t get enough strength for it to matter. It only boosts bashing damage, which scales badly. It would be easier to boost combat knife damage to 75% of the pike damage and just attack 3-4 times per every attack you’d make with the pike.
Weapon skill above 4 can help by decreasing the attack cost, but it can’t halve it.
There is no good reason to ever use the pike right now. Unless the reach weapon PR gets merged or some balance miracle happens, it is effectively useless.

Deft affects only misses.
It is utterly worthless - you can get its effects and more by spending the 2 points on unarmed combat. 2 points will give you lvl 3 unarmed combat, which gives you feint (that also works with weapons) which works just as well as Deft. Or you could spend 1 of those points melee and 1 in something else and simply be skilled enough not to miss. Or even better: get your dexterity to 14 in character generation and become a melee god by the end of the first day.

Ah, mierda. Should’ve known Deft would be a derpy trait. ;A;

Valpo deftly parrys the failed trait assignement with his copper dagger.

But the word sounds nice :S
