Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Yes, I would like one bunny, please.

Seems like driving skill 5 is sufficient for not fumbling around with the controls anymore. Except if you drive over some giant frogs & stuff. For some reason, that moved me right into the river on that bridge. Maybe, next time less than 140km/h (87mph) are better.

Also, a nailgun is overkill. In my first games I ignored them completely … until I gave it a try. The result: burned down a few towns for nails so far. Though you still need a good handgun like a SIG Pro .40 (silenced) or Glock 19 (silenced) to get rid of spiders & Z’soldiers, Z’brutes & those where nails don’t penetrate.

Now, is there a way to set what kind of item is to be looted? If I want only nails then I want only nails, and no rubble, scrap metal and what else crap is there after burning down a house. Maybe worth a suggestion if not yet possible.

Not quite sure how much sense that makes. I mean if you are tearing a house down stealing all the nails out of the walls you are obviously going to have some rubble and scrap left behind, it doesn’t just vanish into thin air. :stuck_out_tongue:

That electromagnetic thingie CBM is great for nail gathering, or spent ammo case.

When you get this you already are disintegrating anything with cybernetic muscles and a frying pan.

But I’ll keep an eye out.

@i2amroy

Well, you got the filter setting for V (view all items around you) already, I was curious if there’s a filter setting available for the actual looting too.

I cheated in found a cordless drill and I have no idea what it does, and I really don’t want to leave the school I cleared of zombies my fortess of solitude to see what it does.

From looking at the code as best as I can tell it currently has no function other then serving as a weapon.

Okay, I was just slightly confused at the fact it had a battery power.

Awesome. Something else I can disassemble for batteries and scrap electronics.

What’s so damn tricky 'bout a cordless drill?

Drill a hole through walls/doors to see what’s on the other side?

Philips bit so doubles as Screwdriver (most every cordless drill I’ve encountered came with such a bit)?

One of those nifty LED-equipped ones so can be pressed into Lighstrip-level lighting?

How do I order NPCS to move, barricade, patrol, guard, etc.?

You don’t. All they know is follow and kill, in inverted order of priority.

They don’t even care if they end up killing you.

How does armor durability work? It seems like kevlar and leather last longer than cotton and wool, but chitinous doesn’t get damaged at all. Footwear and bags never used to get hit, now my shoes and messenger bag are getting destroyed.

What controls how durable an item is? What decides whether or not the item gets checked for damage at all?

Bonus points if someone can tell me how to keep this new plate mail I found in one piece. I busted the last suit before I could kill 20 zombies with it.

Durability is basically that items defense against being damaged. Kevlar>leather>cotton in order of their ability to resist damage. Ironically, iron does not offer a very high durability, despite being impossible to repair.

Also, items only get damaged if that body part is hit, and even then it is not a guarantee.

Protip: Even at 300+ skills in everything and a katana getting swarmed is still a very, very bad idea.
A smoker kinda caused me to die from…well smoke inhalation after taking a beating from 100 Z’s

Meant this for the ‘How did you last die’ thread but kinda fits here as well…

Try an awlpike next time.

In the git version I noticed office buildings with elevators with busted consoles is there a way to get them working as there is a garage with a bunch of cars and garage doors that have busted consoles, behind the doors is more elevator which I assume is how you would get the cars out without having to dismantle the cars and slowly move all the parts to put together into a death mobile.

o-office buildings?
Yay.

Now I can play the part of a distressed salaryman cutting his way free from accounting with a letter opener.
Seriously, I’ve taken a few courses in accounting. There is nothing on this earth that I despise more.

IIRC then they purposely made it that way so you couldn’t get the cars our easily.

And as for the broken elevators in the hazardous waste sarcophaguses, I believe those are there for if the creator ever gets around to expanding them, but right now they just wanted to get the building in the game before the .5 release.
