Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Is there any way to plant a berry bush which would behave itself like wild bushes ? I mean that it should ripen in summer, become dormant in winter and bring another set of berryies in the next summer without my attention.

I tried to plant strawber but it grow up like an ordinary plant and disappeared after I harvested it.

BTW, is there some way to plant flowers ? I’m trying to bring some nature decoration to my forest base )

I really should try fishing traps sometime.

Or I could, you know, use dynamite. The redneck fishing trap. owo

I just lost a character that kept getting the message that his muscles felt knotted. I googled it and found an old forum post suggesting the character had a parasite and to look for anti-parasite medication. I spent an entire season clearing and searching a large town and didn’t find any medication with that in the description.

For future reference, what should I be looking for, specifically? Does royal jelly help? I was going to try some, but I never found a beehive or any science teams during my search. I accidentally ate some raw meat due to a typo. Can I assume that was the source of the parasite?

Also, is there a way to tell a character to keep trying to sleep until successful? Pressing the buttons over and over again got old fast. Truth be told, it was a very unfun experience in general. It made play extremely tedious, and if I hadn’t already done a lot with the character I would have just killed them off and started anew.

Yes, raw meat causes parasites. The chance is quite low, but it is there.

At the moment there is no way to attempt to sleep more than once. Though repeatedly trying to fall asleep isn’t very efficient. The chance to fall asleep when not tired is rather low and the chance to fall asleep when fully rested is 0.

I suggest you to try a bark tea (search in survival recipes). Quite good, cheap and easy to find alternative to medical antiparasitic drug. Helped me with brain parasite recently.

Now if I could remember whether there’s a natural equivalent to the antifungal drug…

I’ve found a barret, accurized it, added bipod, scope and stuff… Oh hey, bandit hunt quest. How fortunate.
But 30 spent rounds later I still couldn’t hit one unaware bandit standing still in the middle of an open field 35 tiles away.

My rifle skill was rather high, I’ve even tried debugging myself 30+ skills, CBMs aiding with aim and dexterity-buffing mutations. Still nothing.
U wot?

welcome to cata dda where military bionic sniper with 10+ skills cant hit target with his sniper rifle at medium range

Tried using precise aim, or just the default fire?

Precise aim and half a hour of aiming.

Ouch. O.o

hitting something at medium range is almost impossible without explosive ammo

Moral of the story: grenades solve everything.

Thanks. It kept telling me I was tired, but the pain and muscle cramps wouldn’t let me rest. The reason I kept trying to sleep was in case I ended up passing out in the middle of town. I got the dead tired warning a couple of times during combat and I was really trying to hang on to the character.

Wow, really? That’s great. I’ll keep it in mind.

I think I might be trapped down in a lab. I came down in one of those storage rooms and I think the spot that was supposed to have the up stair got covered by something else. I have this room marked on my map as the stairs out, but I can’t find the stairs anywhere. Is there any way I can debug myself up a z-level or something?

EDIT: Answered my own question. Long range teleport in the debug menu was exactly what I was looking for.

how long it takes until bees disapear? that anbc suit encumber me too much to fight and if i stop wearing it i will be harmless because of pain

On getting a character tired, one round or two rounds with a vibrator puts a character in tired in about an hour. Two to three uses from fully rested.

A long time. That’s what you get for attempting to mess with the raw powers of creation. :stuck_out_tongue:

yea… I just took the brunt of the bees and then finally got bored of sitting around waiting for 7-9k of damage to stop bouncing around… that char died. You may well be screwed unless you can manage to outrun them.

You need to bind the debug menu first, it’s unset by default.
While you’re binding the debug menu, it’s a good idea to bind the “craft for as long as possible” action too - it’s quite useful for grinding some skills.
