Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Even if logically sewage would only be more hazardous than water when used on non-zombies, it would be hilarious.

Though really, best answer would just be to allow normal water. ;w;

Are analyzers (in labs) radioactive? I was using the console on one to read, and suddenly, I mutated.

Also, how are you supposed to get your cooking skill to to 1 to make a stone pot… if you don’t have a pot to cook with?!? That was really annoying (finally found a book for skill 1 cooking).

For lvl 1 cooking, you can make a pointy stick and cook some meat.

Carve up a wooden item into skewers, if you can find an item would a knife use action. Those have a cooking quality of 1, and can thus cook meat. Or make a pointy stick or similar spear-like weapon, many also have cooking quality plus make good enough weapons to assist in getting that meat in the first place.

Alternatively, find an empty aluminum or tin can and boil water using it. A skewer plus a tin can will really take care of your early-game cooking needs for quite a while, with less volume than a pot.

A lot of skills seem impossible to level up from 0 without a book because the few level-0 recipes or other methods aren’t always obvious. Mechanics is an excellent example (install a travois, pick locks, etc)

Is the laser pistol completely silent? Started shooting at a skeleton, who was standing at the very edge of my vision at night. A ton of shots missed and the ones that hit didn’t do much damage, but the skeleton just stood there, circling around a spot without coming near me.

Also shot a zombie soldier, it kept on saying that the shots kept reflecting off it, but it seems to be doing damage nonetheless, going from uninjured to dead while every single shot bounced off. Found a slightly damaged powered armor from it, if that’s got anything to do with it.

Well, I don’t think zombies get any bonus from their armor, but dang that’s pretty lucky.

Yeah, I’ve yet to find any sign that the actual drops, which should be determined on death, affect monster stats.

Hell, I could’ve sworn that revived zombies retain their toughness even though they now lack armor.

revived zombies are generaly weaker.
Theire strength scales down with how mangled the corpse was.
Unless you only barely kill them (not much over kill) they ll loose considerabel amounts of power when revived.

Oh derp. Would still expect it would affect other properties, like zombie cops/soldiers losing their presumably armor-related defense, zombie scientists losing item-related special attacks, etc.

Would be painfully complex though.

But it would be fun.

This all that matters!

How install 0.C Cooper version?

like the earlier versions as well. Unpack the archive you downloaded with a suitable program. That should be all.

It would be pretty lucky… if I hadn’t already found several sets of armor on banks, and one helmet from a basement. I reckon I should line 'em up by the entrance of my base like a set of ornamental armor.

I’ve heard of people being able to sprint in the experimental version. I have the experimental version and sure enough, it says “Walking” on the screen. So how do I make my character sprint?

Quote key " is the default to toggle running.

Well I think I’ve had this problem (possibly a feature?) of reflective surfaces duplicating their image as I walk since I started in .B. Basically, if there is a shallow water tile at the end of a fence line, and I walk away from the water tile along the fence, the water tile will replace all of the fence tile. When I walked over a bridge that had a car on it, the entire bridge was stretched and replaced by the car image. This also happens with shiny tiles like in malls.

It’s incredibly confusing and I’m wondering if there’s anyway to fix it/turn off this weird property.

The laser weapons are powerful and silent. Many shots miss skeletons. They have no flesh to hit, so it’s like an innate dodge verses ranged attacked. The LACP pistol doesn’t do much damage, and even less to skeletons. Same thing with a bow.

One reason skeleton dogs are the bane of a low level ranged character. I always burn them on something.

They rock in that you can shoot through glass with them and it doesn’t break the glass  Makes them awesome in labs.

Do hordes still move? Do they react to noise? I turned off zombie revival (because it seemed unfair) - and I was kinda expecting that, on a longer playthrough then what I’m used to, the hordes would pick up the slack. But they just kinda sit there. And even with my primary weapon being a shotgun, I havn’t really had any problem with far off zeds coming for me. I mean, I’m DEEP IN THE WOODS, and most of the nearby hordes are ants and triffids and things that seem to keep to themselves, but I’m in mid autumn now, aside from unarmed, my primary weapon is a shotgun… and…I don’t see anything moving towards me when I look at the hordes in the debug menu. I think I even cut down a bunch of trees and had ONE zed approach, and then I couldn’t find it when I went to look for it. (though in all fairness, I think the ‘wildlife’ got to it)

Can I turn back on zombie revival?

Horde movement is supposed to only occur when you enable it in worldgen, and even then fairly certain it only affects dynamic spawn mode.
