Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Are zombies/animals attracted to food? for example, if I were to build a spike trap, could I drop a piece of meat onto it to help lure some poor sod into it? or maybe a valuable gun to trap an NPC? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

NPC trap could work.

Some monsters “see” food, but it only makes them calm, they don’t actually do anything with it.

There’s a bounty issue to make monsters steal some types of items. If no one claims it by the time I finish working on z-levels, I will implement it.

kk. on that note, is there any way to set off traps from a distance? poking with a stick, throwing rocks at them ,etc?

Yep, when in doubt throw a rock/heavy stick from a few tiles away. I carry a few rocks in my vehicle to deal with minefields, and often pick up random things on the ground to deal with trapped houses. It does need to be somewhat heavy to set off the trap though. I recommend standing at least four tiles away, though two tiles away should be safe. We all know how should works though.

the word ‘should’ should be synonomous with ‘FUN’

is Dick Surges some sort of special npc that always wields a knife spear

Nope, you’re just finding patterns where they don’t exist. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well seeing pasterns that aren’t there is one explanation… but a more reasonable one would have to be…

What and how much should one andjust in WorldGen to get a “True Romero/Walking dead-experience”?

good question, and I want that answer too, but a good start I would think would be the slow zombies mod, city size 1 or 2 and season length 30, classic zombies true, surrounded start true.

possibly change start time to late at night.

Short of looting a gardening supply, how can I get seeds? is there a special way to 'U’se produce?

Only way i see to get seeds is harvesting the respective plants or getting them from gardening suplys.
So farms and berry bushes.

Some houses might also have garden and gardening supplies.

but I’ve never gotten seeds before when looting veggies from a farm.

Does Archery skill affect how likely an arrow/bolt is to be damaged?

Also, why can’t I craft a Holster? I can do Ankle Holsters and Back Holsters, but not a plain Holster.

I’m not sure; if you’re practicing archery by shooting at empty tiles, shooting a tile with arrow(s) present is quite likely to damage the arrow(s) lying there, though.

Shoulder and regular holsters need a point in pistol skill, I’m afraid.

I found one of these. Item rate was .9 or so, and there were still dozens of loose seeds on shelves inside. And tilled land outside ready to be planted(too cold).

I can’t seem to increase Handguns skill. Grabbed a nine and shot some cougars with it at 140 focus… still at 0 (0%).

Weapon accuracy: cheap guns and/or less perceptive chars can’t tell whether they’re missing because the gun’s sights are off or the char’s not aiming properly, so can’t correct aim and improve skill. Fairly punishing bit of realism. Recommendation: read books and/or get the dispersion down (more accurate gun and ammo).

Don’t you get a message about that though?
