Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Little baby slimes. Eeeeeeeeeeeee.

Speaking of mutations, what are some ways to combat the effects of being cold-blooded or ectothermic?

Incidentally, what should I know about playing a Slime Mutant? :)

Bring a mop.

Found out a way too cheat the game.

Tank tops can be made with 4 rags, and disassembled for 5.

Although not that big of an exploit, some early game survivors might find this useful.

While you are playing, game options can be changed… world options included. So, if i change things as zombie spawning rate, item spawning rate and city size, the new values will be valid to map areas still to be created?

Honestly, the slime trail effect is one of the reasons I’m considering dropping it.

Does the slime trail have any game play effect? I have to admit, I kinda like the idea of weaponizng my own slime by luring zombies into it and causing them to fall down on it. :frowning:

The effect is you’re a hot mess. Saves you plenty of time if you were planning on painting the floor green though.

I like the slime trail mutation. It makes lab clearing so much easier. You can immediately see where you have been and what routes you take repeatedly.

I like it because slime.

So I’m moving into a military bunker with all those neat little chambers, and I need to know: Reinforced glass like you see in bunkers and labs, can it ever be smashed down by normal zombies banging on it for an arbitrarily long period of time?

See I kinda wanna throw some zombie corpses in a room and let them revive, like a zombie zoo. Maybe put a mommy and daddy and child zombie in there like a family. But if a million turns of banging on the reinforced glass will allow them to break it someday, well that’s sort of impracticable.

This is actually one of the reasons I took it when I was doing my lab escapee survivor. Since I had limited range of view, I made sure to leave myself an easily navigated path to where I was stashing all the stuff I found to figure out what my options were.

(Hint: they weren’t good.)

Nope.
You’ll hear them banging if they can destroy things. If they don’t ever try, they can’t.

As much as I would love you to do this, I beg of you, don’t, you will regret it.
Sadly zombies have this horrible ability to pass through walls/doors when you enter or leave an area. For example;

#<#
#@#
#+#
.Z.

Provided that the zombie is close enough to the stairs, even with a closed metal door or even another wall in the way and the rest of the room was surrounded by stone wall, if you go down the stairs, the zombie will somehow teleport through to the stairs and follow.
That said, they also have a tendency of moving through walls after leaving an area. You could leave all the zombies in their chambers, leave, come back, then find that one or two of them are outside their chambers just wandering around.

The teleporting up/down stairs thing is still a problem, but the teleporting around when you leave/come back should be fixed now. If you are still having problems with it in the latest experimental than it you need to post an issue so we can fix it. As such your zoo should be fine as long as it isn’t near any stairs.

How do i take off the electronic handcuffs?

wait until they lost charge (tested)
or try use monocular blade cbm (untested)
or walk around with energy protecting cbm to faster discharge handcuffs (tested)

So, I have finally reached the personal skill-level where I can reliably (0.5% of the time?) survive to the point that normal zombies aren’t much threat and I can focus on other projects. As I’m looking at cars to salvage and potentially build, I’m noticing that we’re only ever given a flat number for fuel usage. Does fuel usage shift as you increase your speed (no modifications, just mashing the gas petal)?

For example, will your sports car burn as much gas going at 9 miles per hour as it will at 900? And, if the fuel usage does shift according to the speed, is it much more efficient to switch a car’s V8 for a V6 if you don’t need the extra speed and hauling capability?

I’m not sure I’ve articulated this well, but hopefully someone will be able to decipher my cluelessness.

IIRC diving into water should also short them out.

Cut them up with a knife (not sure if it still works).
Dive into water
Have a faulty bionic zap you
Get caught into EMP

Doesn’t work with claws. I’m pretty sure monomolecular won’t work either.
