Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

I feel like I’m being stupid here, but how do you get into the barracks armories in the labs? You hack a computer to get access to the barracks, and then the computer to open the armory doors is shut behind a locked metal door. So the only way to get in is to use e.g. an acetylne torch or explosives to open that door, but if you’re doing that, you may as well use it to break directly into the armory. Am I missing something?

Theres a chance that you enter an armory using stairs. when inside you can acces that console to get out. If your outside you ll have to use another method to break in yes.

Call me daft but I cannot figure out how to make colourful markings on the map. Please help.

Hey all, back with another few questions.

 1. Is carrying all of this- well, keeping, really- all of this boozer worth it? I know I can make bandages, but, otherwise, is there a point? I do have lightheaded, so…

This is a question about thresholds, going to spoiler it because, from what I can tell, they’re spoilerish? I don’t know. Better safe than sorry, I suppose.
2. As I’ve said on-thread earlier, I’ve always loved the Medical tree- it gives you near invincibility at the cost of a few… mental and genetic instabilities, if you even get the mutations. So, there’s a mutation I’ve gotten before that worries me- it makes me crave mutagen or something. Will it act as a permenant addiction? If so, what are it’s affects?

 1. Another question on mutating. I’m a ranged/gun build, though I do use a monomolecular blade in CQC. Will schizophrenia or any bad aspects of the Medical tree interfere with much of my combat abilities? Also, are there any better mutations for a combat style as my own? It must be non-disfiguring, as I can’t wear a suit and look good with bark or scales covering me.
Woo. End spoiler (?) section.
4. Lastly, what must I do to make these diamond weapons? I found a book, but have no idea what exactly is needed. I would, obviously it was some machine in a lab?

Edit: Sorry, one last thing- I’d like to port this character over somewhere, (to another world) how is this done?

Thanks in advance!

 1. Should sell OK to NPCs, and tends to help morale.

 2. I don’t much bother with spoilers.

 3. MUT_JUNKIE makes mutagen addiction much worse if you get it, but doesn’t actually make the addiction permanent.

 4. Alpha and (kinda) Elf-A are fairly good in terms of looking good, and Alpha is good for anyone. Apart from that, most mutation branches are disfiguring, so yeah.

 5. If you check the recipe, you need those ingredients and a CVD forge, which are fixed machines that rarely show up as Lab finales.

Blaze posted about moving chars from one world to another (thread got locked for excess bumping, though); IIRC you grab the player and artifact files and copy them to the new world. Your spawn location is more or less random and you can only take what you can fit on your person; if you really want to bring your custom car, easiest to debug in the nearest chassis and rebuild in the new world.

Molotovs are handy.

i moved my base and character from one world to other it was hard but possible to do just look at co-ordinates of base and then here start the guessing game where you need to find what file is your base

In my car, entire cargo carrier had its contents damaged. I have a storage full of smashed plastic chunks and similar. I didn’t drive over mines and I kept the car away from spitters and there were no fires near the car. The tile was shielded from environment (roofed and boarded) and wasn’t damaged even once.

It’s just one tile, all others are fine. It contained radioactive items (nightlight and plutonium cells). Some of the plutonium cells might have been damaged, later all were. Could it be it?

What effects can damage all ~100 items contained on a tile without destroying too many of them?

 1. Booze is great for many uses but I find it absolutely great for the Ethanol Burner CBM. Get the boozes that don’t make you thirsty (I think fruit jug wine?) and fill up a gallon jug or plastic jerrycan next time you’re in a liquor store. I believe blood filter CBM also means you can clear off drunkenness whenever you want. Hurray, near-infinite energy!

As mentioned, molotovs are also amazing too. 90% of the booze I bother to take is for molotovs.

2-4: Mutations and disabilities generally work fine together. Mutation addiction isn’t really that bad, it’s just like any other drug addiction – you can either feed it or sweat your way through the withdrawl. Eventually you’ll get mutation dependence, and if you’re just chugging mutations constantly, you’ll quickly hit a threshold (chimera if nothing else) and hit the point of no return.

As for combat mutations… Well, it really depends on your playing style. Alpha and Medical are amazing all-around, Ursine is one of my top favorites (One of the few I actively try to craft), and my second picks if I can’t/don’t want to get Ursine are Raptor and Arachnid. Sometimes Cephalopod if I’m going for pure close combat.

 1. There’s a crafting recipe book found in labs with the recipes for diamond katana, knife, and machete. Once you learn them you also need diamond, and finally find a CVD forge at the bottom of a lab. You can then &craft your fancy diamond gear there.

Okay, I need a serious hand here. I mentioned in a previous post somewhere that I used 20 Manhacks to defeat over 100 zombies in one go. Well now I’ve got a bit of a bigger issue.

I don’t know how many zombies there are, I really can’t count that high, but there’s so damn many it is making the game lag to hell and back, there are Hordes everywhere all coming towards me. I can kill the zombies, hell I can kill a zombie tank without taking any damage in a melee fight, however my issue is that because there are SO many damn zombies coming from every angle imaginable, that I don’t have any time to butcher or smash the corpses, and hours later fighting the corpses that are left on the ground just get back up again for round two.

What can I possibly do to completely destroy all corpses close by? I’ve tried burning, but they either wont burn well enough or it starts bloody raining. I’ve tried luring Spitters to spit acid and melt the bodies, but it’s only able to do tiny patches at a time and I mean there are A LOT of corpses.

Also I REALLY need to know, do cities keep spawning Zombie Hordes, or are they spawned in when the area is spawned then doesn’t make anymore, because I am, for lack of a better word, pissed at the amount of zombies there currently are, because the amount is just fecking rediculous.

Play with prevent rez mod. Zombies rezing is a cool mechanic early on, but once you get better it becomes pure tedium, especially considering rezed zombies are much weaker than new ones (scales with how damaged the corpse was).

Or keep smashing while they are attacking you. To do this properly, go unarmed, pick brawling martial art (the free one) and have enough armor to tank all possible hits. Smashing prevents dodging, but not counter attacks, meaning your dude will keep wrecking zombies’ shit while wrecking other zombies’ shit. For best effect equip a strong unarmed weapon (weapon is unarmed if it doesn’t change your style display to “Normal”). Strong unarmed weapon is one that deals cutting/stabbing damage (from what I can tell, bashing damage on unarmed weapons is totally ignored).

Additionally, if you have the bionic, you can surround yourself in fire to make zombies die faster. Using the bionic doesn’t cost any time and can produce even raging fire on unflammable tiles. Just make sure you aren’t standing on any items, because if fire spreads onto your tile, it’s usually an immediate emergency even for a powerful survivor.

with ninjutsu and katana even with low skills you can pulp enemy with 1 hit when is alive alslo if you have experimental (not the latest one) try using electromagnet cbm on road roller

Use grenade launcher.

Yeah, as mentioned strong enough hits will instantly pulp zombies, and zombies should accumulate damage through additional rezes (meaning that if you damage them enough to slow down their rez this time, next time there is a good chance they won’t come back at all).

Had some issues with a huge horde in my most recent game - in which I busted out of a lab with dynamite, and the NPC who spawned with me could not stop shooting that stupid shotgun.

Ducked out under the cover of night to come back later, didn’t end up cleaning up the entire mess until two seasons had passed.

Sometimes the best answer to a horde is to run.

Thank you, works like a charm.

i forgot about that
this + acid bombs is good at clearing mess

Anyone know if the crazy windchill factor in the experimentals is fixed yet?

Kinda wanna update, but not if its going to be pointless to wander around in anything less than high noon in summer…

Last time I played it was fine. It’s still fucking cold all the time, but you don’t need to wear 5 coats and 3 blankets.
