Destroy the spire and then mass kill all the fungus you see. You should eventually be able to relatively purge the fungus population, though it could very well include hundreds of fungus to kill.

Zombie hordes start in cities and then begin to pseudo-randomly wander the map (possibly homing in on you if you are making loud noises to attract them). The latest experimental versions should allow you to see them on the overmap when they get close, though you might want to wait until Beleno’s fix for the accompanying lag goes in to actually upgrade.

Edit: Fixed username’s fix to the proper one. :stuck_out_tongue:

yeah, i am next to a huge city… but all the zombies wind up on the opposite side of where the city is… i would presume that they kinda pass you till they realize they smell hoomans…

-the size of the city is probably just axing for trouble for it almost fills the map :stuck_out_tongue:

Question:

How does TIME work in the game? No matter how long my previous survivor lasted, when she dies, its always day one for the next, and as -far as I can tell- everything they ever did is already done.

I can think of one of two explanations for this.

  1. Everything my other survivors did is really the work of the chaos of the ‘first night’ and they never existed.

  2. My other survivors start the day after they died, and the timer is wrong.

Though what would be neat would be if the changes they made would kick into effect when they made them, this would be impossible to program. (would be really neat for ‘dwarf fortress overseer passing’ style games) Still, its something I keep wondering about.

Edit: Actually, I doubt anyone knows what lightcones are, but I guess you could program it if new characters were guaranteed to start as far away from the previous characters as necessary to ensure they couldn’t get to them in <x+1) days, with x being the number of days they lasted. Still, I’m overthinking it. And this isn’t a suggestion, lightcones would be merely ‘almost impossible’ to program. It also presumes one character at a time, which is silly.

I’m just wondering if time has an explanation here. Ignore my babbling.

Tip: Blade Trap is Op :P,
it 2 shots most zombies and it covers a 3b3 area, each space they walk on, except middle, will probably hit them… it has either infinite or alot of uses as well… so basically plop one down in front of you and kite all zoombies into it… or place one infront of a window to kill pesky zombies tryin to hug your sleepin body

Wait… 3x3… Two infront of a 1 tile door, no windows on house… INSTANT DEATH

Blade traps are amazing, unless hit by a ranged zed.

Is it possible to completely wipe out a wandering spawn horde or does it just go down to a minimum 4 zombies and then rebuild over time?

I think it is like dynamic city spawns?

Strangely. Everything that has already happened still has (and if you wander to the right place you can find the corpse of your last survivor), but its simultaneously set back to the first day due to some old stuff. One of the possible things we’ve been looking at doing is to fast forwards to the next day/season, but the difficulty lies in the fact that this would cause most food to start rotten, thus making it much more difficult for future survivors other than the first one.

This would be brilliant!

This is probably a dumb question, but ah well…

I found a stone-walled house I’m using in a little four house village crossroads as a base. It has a fireplace. Can I indeed use it to cook with or will it just burn the house down? Would the smoke be too much of a hassle indoors or does using a fireplace eliminate the dangers of smoke inhalation.

Thanks.

Yes you can, the fire from a fireplace will never burn the house down.

yes, let it rot. no problem there. time has moved on and now #2 survivor trades some rotten food for a chance to find and loot #1’s lair.

Perhaps later game you could get a bit more points, and apocalypse style “jobs” where you would be more Suited to be a survivor… no survivor gear cause starting with that would be broken :stuck_out_tongue: .wink wink XD.

A quick question, I’m about to start getting back into the game again, and all the new stuff has me pretty excited, but are there any changes/additions to the end game ‘dungeons’ from the past month or two? Details not necessary, just want to know if there are any

An NPC blew my arm into oblivion (broken). Can i replace it with a bionic blaster or surgery or some such (I know it isnt possible in older versions, but, I am still curious.)?

Inquisitor - I dunno, I havent been able to get there yet (currently playing with size 16 citys).

There is something you can craft (depending on your 1st aid skill) which might help… though as i foggily recall: the one time I’ve tried it took like forever… even longer than teh cold.

hmmmses,
eai

the dungeons per se might not have changed but there are several new mobs that make the game a lot more exciting at any level. the balance has also gotten much much better and there are many more ways to challenge your heroes than ever before (do play the experimentals, ok? Index of /cataclysm/jenkins-latest/Windows/Curses) for example, you can start surrounded with double the z’s and just 10% of the drops in homes, have roving hordes that stumble on you in the middle of the woods. … if you make it through all that you can still be a super hero that dies from doing something not so super. great fun.

Broken arms will eventually recover if you craft a splint and wear it for a few days/weeks. Splints give you huge encumbrance, so don’t expect to be doing any fighting or running around: find somewhere safe with plenty of food and water.

Dungeons are the same as ever.
