Almost all NPC interaction code assumes they’re clean and the player is the only one who can get ugly.

This somehow implies to me that before the cataclysm, there was a Naziesque purge of all ugly people from the whole of America. Because there’s no ugly people anymore, any sighting of ugly people in the cataclysm must be a HORRIBLE occasion. Obviously they’re totally unnatural.

To clarify, it seems post-threshold mutants retain their standards of beauty from their human form and don’t have a major change of taste. So one Slime mutant would think the other was hideous to look at because they are still using human standards of beauty, and the social penalties for ugliness would still apply.

So what I’m getting out of this is that zombies are truly equal with each other. No racism, no discrimination. All zombies are equal. Look at them. They don’t fight amongst themselves, with the exception of a hulk, whose behavior is tolerated, because that’s what zombies do - they are pacifists. They are the harbingers of equality and tolerance. You all should feel ashamed for killing them in the thousands, you heartless monsters. You should just stop resisting and let them ravage your flesh.

Not just ugly people. Pretty people too. And people with bad backs or knees, knowledge of martial arts, weak stomachs, tough feet, parkour skill, cannibalistic tendencies, pacifists, vegetarians, those who don’t like junk food, liars, honest people, insomniacs, heavy sleepers and other horrible non-normal abominations.
Except for the player character, who escaped the purge by hiding in a shelter/LMOE.

So it’s more like normie hitler.

Or maybe the reason why the PC has traits is because it’s a demigod living among humans, waiting for the perfect time to break the chains of normality and become a true legend among the living and dead.
Because the player started in a empty shelter or residence, save a single NPC is because the PC smited the rest of the living, vaporizing them to dust - leaving one to witness all that is glorious! TO BOW TO THEIR NEW GOD!
