No hope and the moos

The ‘No hope’ mod ramps up the fog considerably, limiting player field of vision. At the same time has the moos aggression value been ramped to 100, making the moos agro on you as soon as he sees the player.

I’v had two consecutive runs where I was killed by a moos, where the moos saw me and agro’d on me at the same time as I saw the moos. I had no chance to escape. That was not really fun.
Locally I ramped aggression down to 30 for the moos, and now I have a chance to ska-doodle when I run into a moos.
Is this effect intentional? Am I missing a way out of such a predicament?

Moose were notorious player killers in the first releases so it is probably a homage, which went too far with the fog. I presume if you delete the moose from the mod, the game will use the default moose stats, it has 5 aggression. Beware, in the latest experimentals, the default moose became much more dangerous! At least according to the https://cdda-guide.nornagon.net/, but i don’t have time to play nowadays, so i can’t check it. Also try to yell few times, with some luck you can scare them away.

Aggressive beasts are totally fine with me, but you have to be able to pick your battles. If you are a few hours in and suddenly are whisked away towards the Great beyond, that’s a pity. Maybe I will make a first pull request for this. See how that goes…
