I will draw your current survivor!

WHY IS EVERYONE WEARING TRENCHCOATS MBRs and SURVIVOR SUITS?? WHY??
Trenchcoats is probably a case of this (and that they provide good additional storage).
Survivor gear is generally some of the best stuff for late game chars which I suspect most of these would be.
You could draw variations in styles (if you wanted), since not every survivor would design their own custom made gear the same since survivor stuff isn’t(usually) a recipe item.

I found a helicopter crash outside the Shelter, and then found a bunch of corpse lootfests.

I know its just that I was expecting more varied clothes in general. And more characters going around wearing more normal outfits.

I was just running around in basically comfortable (encumb 1 roughly) combat gear. A fitting ceramic plate MBR is basically an I win button against most non-endgame things. Most zombies attack the torso and there’s a high chance they get stopped powerlessly.

I’d say if I were to RP the cataclysm, I would probably have worn something similar if i could find it (likely would be a kevlar vest instead, due to scarcity). Getting shot would be a very real chance when everyone is panicking and some people are thinking very short-term (that is, kill me for my shit, fuck the outcome of no camaraderie among survivors).

Now, if I had to not use survivor gear or army/tactical gear, what would I wear… Probably neoprene stuff and like a sparring helmet for martial arts (they’re soft padded material to absorb blows without being too hot and without restricting vision much if at all). Why wear normal clothes when your life is at risk?

/rambling all over the place

I have a monocle (?

I will give you the inventory when i think my current char is epic enough!

Falling somewhat behind with this drawing things

Is there no creativity in the grimdarkness of the New England wastelands?

No seriously, it seems that everyone wears the same things. Ohh well at least makes drawing them easier.
I have a charecter to share that doesnt just wera that, will put up later today probibly

Could not find a crow mask, but found better stuff: Tophat.

If it is not too much, could you draw him with a crossbow and a hammer? They are my favourite weapons so far.
Also, i use Chiko’s mod, so i got rag tunics. If you can, draw it over the MBR thingie and you know, you are the artist here.

Top hat and monocle, classy all you need is a tuxedo and a cup of tea(hot) to go with it.

Since my character is melee-based, he doesn’t wear anything that encumbers a lot. Right now i haven’t started to raid bunkers/labs/FEMA camps/etc yet, so, there’s no need to wear armor.

Pretty much. Trenchcoats are a pretty optimal blend of coverage, storage, warmth, and non-encumbrance. MBRs with lightweight plates are similarly non-encumbering and the survivor gear (custom-built gear that you invented!) is likewise optimized for your use.

Lab coats, peacoats, etc are comparatively less rewarding. Likewise you generally won’t see folks in slacks or jeans long-term. Cargo/army pants are the way to go.

Ok, John, have somebody without a trenchcoat OR a survivor suit!

Yeah I am not saying that I wont draw your characters if they are wearing those, like If I could tell you guys how to play, you can play like you want and proven that it doesn’t break the single rule in the main post, you can post it and I will draw it. What I posted before was easy to misinterpret, just me getting somewhat burnt out of drawing that continuously, I guess, gonna lower the pace a bit.

However I’ll like to point out that its also very much possible to survive late game without wearing all those fancy post-apocalyptic clothes:
You dont really need more than that unless you are assaulting mines/triffid groves
As there’s no dangerous monster in this game that you cant nail with 5 shots of the Rivtech revolver.( Well perhaps shoggoths can survive those, but A mag from the rivtech automagnum will surely kill those too.
Sure It has the disadvantages of not making you a supreme god of the apocalypse, you’ll get hit unless you dodge lot, but its funnier that way IMO, and youll spend a lot of time remaking that cargo pants/hoodie as they get worn out FAST, which is kinda very annoying.
Let me help you with less Survivor Suits and more impractical choices any one who picks Stylish as character trait should go after this thread still is seriously lacking of.

It was within a self-imposed challenge: multiply starting character points and enemy spawn rate in worldgen by the same value. 36 points, 6x spawn.

My favorite survivor ever, a very nice, benevolently optimistic, good-intentioned, mood-improving presence that will bring sunshine to the desperate even in the face of the apocalypse while also looking pretty. She likes people a lot, a true humanitarian example for humanity.

In a nutshell but not perfectly accurate: Put American McGee’s Alice, Crazy Jane from Doom Patrol, Hannibal and Doomguy from the Doom Comic in a blender, and the result is:

This character has no CBMs.

That chest rig is worn like an open jacket rather than closed so part of the corset can be seen. Bloodstains optional. Heather has a red-ish blond hair but I could color the drawing myself later if you don’t mind. I’d rather have this character with the machinegun equipped instead of a crowbar because it is cooler, but np if you prefer to draw her with a crowbar instead. Rough skin is the first of many side effects to come from being cannibal after trying some mutated arm for dinner, and I regret a little not waiting longer for CBMs and a monocle, although if I waited longer this one could end getting killed, on the other hand.

PS: I really wish I had good drawing skills, but I don’t. Also antecipated thanks for the future avatar.

PS2: Lost pw for my 1st account Set and “forgot your password” doesn’t work, but I’m mostly a lurker anyway so no problem.

Haha, I wear trench coat, but didn’t think they were that useful. I just like trench coats. I just wish there were Leather trench coats or duster cloaks in game.

Swords, rocket launchers and semi trucks.
Life could not be better.

There are leather trench-coats. No dusters sadly.

Been that way for awhile. Leather Trench-Coats are usually made though.

Yeah, leather trenchcoats have existed forever. The only time I ever found one was in a crate in a FEMA camp, but you can make them with six points of tailoring or so. They’re terrible because of the encumbrance, but I have a couple of character archetypes I play that wear them because it seems appropriate.

Time to get tailoring… : )
