I like psychic knacks (force shove) and use it ....a lot............but

The amount of keystrokes necessary to evoke an action is … questionable.

Now I understand the required keystrokes for target acquisition and the choice of desired action (shove or pull) are standard gameplay mechanics, but because this particular knack requires multiple iterations to advance in power level, we are forced into repeating all the keystrokes every single time.

A potential solution to this would be some kind of macro button. As to where that button would be displayed, maybe as just another hotkey…idk?

Another possible method for macro button integration might be an introduction of programmable/ dedicated icons, something along the lines of what’s found in T.O.M.E.(Tales of Maj Eyal) or for those who may be familiar with Autocads icon bars, where each icon does a specific task.

Just my 2 cents for this great project called CDDA

You can make macros outside the game (that’s what i did for “open inventory → activate laptop → Manage files → open file” and other long chains). Works like a charm. Autohotkey for windows works fine. Ubuntu has nice keymappers.

Ah yes, I forgot about AutoHotkey. I actually did use that and remember now that it had its limitations, iirc, capturing some keystrokes was problematic. Thanks for the reminder anyway.

Looking into other posts on this topic seems to indicate a general need to address the long chain keystroke problem that appears to manifest rather frequently in this wonderful game.

While using a third party solution “works” it really is imho, a band -aid solution. Of course I am comparing to other games that do not have this keystroke problem at least not to the degree we have here. However, raising the bar to at least be on par with competing games, would likely raise the games profile and garner more interest and maybe even contribution.

All the same, I would love to help in this game, but my energy levels will not permit. I do see plenty of capable contributors that might be a fit to tackle this task and hope someday that will be a reality.

Cheers
