How to power refrigerators?

How do you end up powering a refrigerator? Is it also possible to power other appliances like ovens?

Full-scale refrigerators aren’t power-able yet. Vehicle minifridges are!

Install 'em in a vehicle setup, then power it via vehicle batteries: charge the batteries via engine & alternator, solar panels, or minireactor. You’ll need vehicle controls to switch everything on.

(You don’t have to make an actual wheeled vehicle. Just a few frames on the ground works fine. Several forum folks have made “utility modules” that fit into their bases; just ask!)

Thanks! That’s a great idea. So far luxury RV’s are I think the only places I have seen minifridges and they don’t appear to be craftable. Can you find them anywhere else?

Food carts have minifridges (and other food goodies!). They can be found in towns, usually on the same space as a park.

You can also find 'em (rarely) in places where you’d find hardware: tools and such.

Also regular RVs, and Ice cream carts and Food carts are sometimes in parks. I looted it in the furniture store too, but that seems rare.

Found one in a fancy house too (those stone / glass houses). Doesn’t seem to be the rule. Parks are probably the best place to look.

The parks are pretty nice since you get a free cart to drag the mini fridge around since it’s pretty heavy.

I started with a shopping cart upgraded to a cargo container that I dragged around, with a 2x3 utility frame with the crafting options. I eventually wound up combining them, and using a large electric engine and 6 or 7 solar panels to power it. The storage is still a little meager and I can really only make our from one town to another before recharging, but it hasn’t slowed me too much. It’s pretty maneuverable too.

Basically, vehicles: totally worth it. It wasn’t as bad to put together and understand as I thought honestly.

AH cool, do solar panels work indoors?

No. is_in_sunlight requires being outside, sorry. Most folks work around that by knocking out a section of wall and replacing it with a vehicle “board”, which serves the same purpose. You could use an external vehicle door and add curtains for the same effect as a domestic window, with the added perk of being able to open it from the outside.
