how long do animals stay until they despawn? i’ve been making a animal storage pin for a few days now out of stone walls and i caught a possum by accident and stored him in my stove, and now he’s gone! was all my work in vain?
I thought it had more to do with distance from the location than time.
This right here. As long as they are close enough they will last forever, but if you go too far away form them anything dynamically spawned will disappear. Static spawns should still stay in the same place though IIRC.

Hold on a second, you mean we can capture live animals now?
Can anyone more familiar with the despawn code tell me how hard it’d be to add an “animal tag” item that can be attached to animals to make them persistent?
I’d be willing to give it a shot.
