How do you remove only one item from a pocket/storage

I just recently got back into CDDA and started back up a previous save. I never really properly interacted with the new (to me at the time) pocket system. Now I decided to try and mess around with it properly.

So, I have a container in my inventory that has a few different misc items. It’s not really properly ‘sorted,’ just used to hold some bits and bobs of my choosing. However, I can’t seem to figure out a way to remove one (or what ever other number) from the storage without unloading the entire thing.

Sometimes I want to swap out one thing for another, but keep ending up unloading the entire thing. Being able to ‘activate’ containers to use the items within is helpful, but sometimes said items change.

Welcome back, and as always, version numbers matter, as I’ve seen things change quite a bit between them.
However, I might still be able to lead you into the right direction.

I don’t think there’s a direct swap option, but you can transfer items between containers by opening your characters inventory, select the container you want to move an item TO and select “insert”. This should now list all possible items you can insert into that container (that aren’t already in it). You can then select all the ones you want to transfer into this container the same way you’d select multiple items to drop.
You can also split a stack of items by moving the cursor over it and entering the amount you wish to insert into your chosen container before selecting the item (meaning it will transfer the chosen amount into the container).

Some other things to mention;

  • You can switch the way your inventory is displayed (I think by default with the ; key when your inventory is open).
  • You can “open up” (as in: list its content in your inventory) and “close” (hide the content) the containers by moving your cursor over them in your inventory and pressing either the < or > key.

I do hope that was the answer you were looking for and I didn’t misunderstood what you’re actually after.
