How did you last die?

Spawned in an Evac Shelter within spitting distance of a river. Across the river - a city. Cue reenactment of The Fog, as ambulatory corpses come staggering out of the water nonstop. Eventually pain and lack of ammo catch up with me.

My schitzophrenic masochistic punk girl Calico spotted a random strip of fire in the long grass not too far from her isolated base , so she went with her two german shepherds Finnigan and Malloy to check it out. Thinking it might be a hallucination, she was watching the fire for signs of spread when suddenly a Mi-go rounded the edge of the flames, so naturally she started running, even though she didn’t know for sure if it was real or a hallucination. The doggos lost sight of her, they couldn’t keep up. A Flaming Eye swooped in, spotted her, and blinded her. She wondered if a hallucination could blind her so effectively, or if being blinded was absolute evidence that the flaming eye was for real. She tried to backtrack to her dogs blindly for some semblance of protection, she was exhausted and could no longer run. Hearing a noise behind her, she hoped it was her faithful four-legged friends, but she wasn’t so lucky. It was a zombie soldier. She swung wildly and blindly, hoping it would just dissapear like the other zombie soldier she’d encountered, but alas this was not a hallucination. Too tired to run or fight effectively, and hopelessly blinded by the flaming eye, the zombie soldier took her down relatively quickly. Her last words were ā€œIs any of this even real?ā€

A Mi-Go popped outta nowhere, no problem, I’ve cut down tons of em in the past. I realized too late that I wasn’t holding my trusty Kukri, but was trying to beat the shit out of it with my bare fists. Needless to say it was a failed test of strength…

Doc Johnson, Military Medic and his companion were in a pickle.

Both of them had guns, Doc with his M4A1 and 00 shotgun and his partner with another shotgun.

They had cleared out a block or two of the town, gotten lots of good stuff out of the houses and even survived close calls. Fortunately, Doc was an actual bonafide medic with hemeostatic powder and such, so that and guns meant they stayed alive.

Problem is, the fun ends when the bullets run out.

So why not hit a gun store while they still had some shots left?

Well, they got cocky.

They cleared out other blocks by going in, aggroing the Zs, then retreating right outside town and blasting the chasers. Then going in to mop up.

But, this time the Zs just kept coming. Fat zombies, cop zombies (with no guns), even a technician zombie which pulled Doc’s gun away till NPC shot it and Doc retrieved it.

So MANY bullets wasted.

There’d better damn well be some good amounts of ammo in there!

Unfortunately, they’d never see the inside of the gun store.

Around 20 undead dogs armored in Kevlar along with a handful of normal Zs approached from down another block as the bullets ran out.

Tried to switch weapons but the dogs and some other Zs held us.

From there, we were overwhelmed and literally eaten alive.

But, man, was it a fight.

This wasn’t my last death but it was my most memorable one…
So this was my fourth spawn in the ā€œMi-go Encampmentā€ challenge scenario, as a Rescuer. I spawned with a M4A1, a combat knife, and some body armor. I had learned the hard way in my last run that it is NOT a good idea to melee any mi-go guard, even one on one, as they’ll quickly stunlock you without top-tier armor. Starting out, I smashed the nearest resin stalk for a pile of viscous goo to mask my scent, and proceeded to slather it on myself. It went well enough at first. I fought my way through three rooms and two guards, until- freedom! I was in ecstatic disbelief that I had escaped so easily. Walking outside, I noticed that the challenge scenario apparently started in winter, so I’d better find shelter fast. A couple of mi-gos came after me, but they were no match for me at long range. After trekking through the woods for a while, I broke into an abandoned house at the very edge of town. It seemed safe enough at first, but a few minutes later a huge boomer broke in through the window. No problem- I easily took it out with my combat knife. Unfortunately, I had forgotten the fact that boomers make a LOT of noise when they explode, and a few turns later, a few more zombies broke in. I proceeded to take them out with a few well-placed shots, but by this time the cavalry had come- I glimpsed several dangerous variants out the window. At this point, I wisely decided that the best course of action was to flee, but… well… did you know that hulks are faster than a running player? Yeah, well, I certainly didn’t. Before I could get out the door, a Kevlar Hulk punched me into the corner. I attempted to run past the zombies, but I was now nearly surrounded. I was cornered by the hulk, a skeletal juggernaut, and an assortment of other specials, who proceeded to wipe the floor with my face. My last words were, ā€œReally? REALLY?ā€

Trapped on the roof of a school and I tried to melee my way through the then got slaughtered by zombie children

Playing heavy mod game with 8/0 city setup (near continuous urban environment). Going looting, moving building to building, fighting where I have to. It gets dark, I decide to hole up in a basement and read by candles until the morning.
Crashing noises from the northwest, apparently the Dark Skies Above mobs set fire to it. Not a big deal, my house was far enough away the fire wouldn’t reach it. Then I hear a car door opening, and I assumed an NPC was looting my goods. I head back upstairs, get an ominous warning about not being able to come back down, ignore it…
One Vindicator and five Knights, all waiting for me, and more pouring in. Outside are about three Consecrators, burning the neighborhood. I fight my way out, Knights incoming, Consecrators now incoming and lighting me on fire. I make a mad dash for my car, running battle all the way with New Order forces and zombies.
And then three Emissaries show up. An Emissary is basically a tripod walker from War of the Worlds, and equally as tough. They soak damage like a tankbot, and have either gas or plasma weapons.
Three of them. Very close range.
ā€œWatch the last moments of your life…?ā€

That sounds hells cool. Will have to look into that mod.

Get the version from Kenan’s Mod Pack, it restores content and takes out the blacklists. It’ll basically make them another faction in the battle over Earth.

I have had a stream of deaths lately in the same world.

I do the Evacuee scenario and apparently, it spawns me into the same 2 evac shelters.

Both are near high zombie population areas and wandering zombies is on.

I have had two military recruits, a cop or two, and a combat medic go through there.

Seems like the military starts are a blessing and a curse. On one hand, having a M4A1 with filled up STANAG magazines is nice. But, damn. The Zs keep coming.

I also learned something. If the starting NPC is still alive but out in the town still fighting, it will be there when you respawn along with a new NPC in the shelter. Tried to save the old NPC who was with my previous character when we got jumped and surrounded by a large house, but it was too late and she died right in front of me as around 20 zombies including runners overwhelmed me as well.

Gasoline zombie. Didn’t expect instadeath.

i got volleyballed back and forth by two brute zombies until they eventually broke my body. (both arms and legs broken, head and body relatively well protected.)

Thought that I can take on 3 grinning coyotes with my pipe spear… I couldn’t… And they were probably still grinning while eating my corpse.

I was trying to barricade turret in a lab barracks by display racks to be able to crouch past turret to other side of the room. But I made a mistake, and instead of moving grabbed display rack towards turret, character made a step out of another display rack right in front of turret (because I released grabbed display rack just before that).
And character even had no great helmet and ESAPI vest on, despite they were around, because I was too lazy. And I’m not sure helmet would save him. So that’s all.

I was inside an above ground lab, near the lab finale where a hound of tindalos teleported inside me, killing me.

Oooh didn’t know they could do that. Those things are dang annoying.

Yea I didn’t know a monster could teleport inside of a player. It said something like shattering into million pieces.

tele-fragged~

… to be fair, its likely an INCREDIBLY rare occurance.

Helga Historian - was totally rocking it, full survivor gear, 3 vehicles, kicking ass - drove her cycle too close to a CROWS turret and plugged in the torso.

Sally Survivalist - was doing okay, except her base was too close to a tear in reality, that spawned a flaming eye. Which gave me a fungal infection. Causing a late night raid attempt to get to a pharmacy. Which failed…
