How did you last die?

RNG, it’s freaking murder and a blessing.

A lot of hits that hit an NPC’s arms/legs are practically pointless.

Land 5 shots from a .50cal in an NPC’s arm?
Doesn’t give two fecks.
Land 5 torso hits with a .22?
Dies instantly

I can understand to a point, but it’d probably be a good idea for our glorious devs to add in a better bleed effect if your limb is practically torn off.

Tim Eastman wasn’t terribly brave, but he could run… So when his friend, abandoned in a grocery store with Tim, announced that he wanted to escape alongside him, Tim took one peek at the hordes massing outside… And pushed his friend into the bathroom. To the tune of plaintive cries of ‘whats that? I hear footsteps’, Tim shoved two heavy freezers in front of the door, promised to come back, and ran.

He made it. Hid in a yoga studio, found a basement, raided bookstores, got geared up, and even went back… a whole month later. Door still there. Freezers untouched. Silence in the dark. Tim dragged the freezers away.

And horrors boiled out. They’d smashed in the back wall, overrun the tiny bathroom, just dozens of the mindless dead massing at the site of their last meal. And Tim, Tim ran. Circled around, vowed to take revenge… Tomorrow, because it was pretty close to dawn and all.

Headless horror followed him home in the dark. I imagine its name was ‘Guilt.’ Can’t out outrun everything, Tim.

He, like my dad, who’s superpower is ‘not dying,’ but this guy had it up on steroids.
He never even made much progress. Somehow he would just barely get to safety and patch himself up, slowly heal, then get beat up again. Even though food is rather plentiful for the most part, he still was constantly half starving.
His allergy to junkfood ended up causing a lot more of a problem than I thought it would as well.
In the end, I decided to give him mercy and by committing suicide (which is, amusingly, connected to a hotkey).

Also I don’t remember his name and that makes me feel slightly bad.

I can already see people complaining about dying of shock. Would definitely be realistic, but you would probably suffer the effects of it at a much higher rate than you would benefit from the same effects inflicted on another.

For that matter, it would be nice to see the effects of long-term brain damage should you manage to survive being hurled into a wall a time or twelve.

I had a new save, and I was streaming. I wasn’t paying attention and I ran right into 3 mi-gos on the first day, and was mauled to death immediately.

I died from a broken heart.

Found a mansion. Wanted the loot. Many zombies though. Had brilliant idea: Why fight zombies myself if I can lead them to nearby moose instead? Result: moose wasn’t happy, zombies died, then my character followed. Damn those things are fast when they are pissed off.

Last time I checked in on the game was right after 0.D was released. Decide to play a Hoarder in Magiclysm using the Lost Faith scenario. Spawn in a church steeple. Building collapses before I get to the first level.

Reset world, pick same character stats. Make it to first level, see that the church is being swarmed by zeds. While trying to figure out how to escape, I notice that another building’s roof almost connects to mine. Try to jump it, too scared. Try to climb down, fall, break both my legs, get swarmed by zed.

Reset world, try again. Church spawns next to a bank, zeds set off alarm, distracting them from destroying my gorram church (in the apocalypse, capitalism will save faith!). Manage to sneak away, loot several houses. I notice a used bookstore and check it out. Open the locked door to the inner room, and get mauled by 2 magical monsters which definitely exist outside of any heaven or earth in my philosophy.

“Hold on. Let me just go back and pick up that wing mirror. Surely the turrets can’t reach this far, right?”

This stupid death was extra unfortunate since it followed after this series of events.

Yusuf Amir was overpowered by a skelenaut while trying to send the hordes of accursed dead back to Jahannam. Inshallah.

Held onto a cursed artifact for too long. It gave incredibile regeneration but reduced my healthiness gradually.

Which lead me to become an unhealthy immortal husk of a human being, prone to many diseases that I’d eventually succumbe to.

Time to mutate medical, it seems

What’s fast? The moose or the zombies? I’ve never fought a moose before but I’m surprised that they can hold their own against the weaker zombies.

I’ll just link it here. Think it’s enough of an answer.

I was playing the Medieval Peasant innawoods. Doing pretty well for myself, until I got impatient and tried to take out a whole lumber mill’s worth of zombies in broad daylight. Then I tried to lose them behind a building, only to discover the way was blocked by a tree.

I’d forgotten how to climb over fences, so my guy had to fight his way back out, sustaining a deep bite wound to the torso on his way. I didn’t have any disinfectant or antibiotics, so I foolishly decided to have him cauterize the wound. Naturally, it got infected.

With no other recourse, I had him set off down the road in search of medicine. Fortuitously, along the way he stumbled onto the site of a drug deal gone bad, and found several full bags of meth. From here on he was pretty much constantly snorting/smoking meth to stave off the exhaustion brought on from the infected wound and the blood loss he’d sustained while fighting the zombies.

He wandered close to a full day. Found some Atreyupan, which would have been timely if he’d waited to cauterize the wound, but alas for my peasant that ship had sailed. Had a close call at one point when he passed out while butchering a beaver, but luckily another beaver found him and bit him awake, so he got put back in action (and ate well). He stumbled onto a number of houses, which he raided for food, and at one point a radio tower where he found a telescope.

But the real prize was the private airport.

I thought at first the place was a bust, until I noticed there was a tile I hadn’t looked at, which was where a helicopter was parked. Looked inside and, glory be, I found a road map. After carefully considering which town was my best bet, I set my character charging straight for it, puffing his meth pipe with increasingly as his exhaustion grew ever worse.

He was a few map tiles from the town when he stumbled into a pack of wolves. They fell on him viciously, forcing him to flee, and when I forgot he’d picked up a first aid kit and had him stop to craft some makeshift bandages, they caught up to him and landed several good bites. Once again he ran, and this time I wasn’t daft enough to light a candle, just had him rest and took a minute to check the map.

Lo and behold, there was a doctor’s office right near the edge of town.

Unfortunately, the sun was just starting to come up, and my character didn’t have the time to wait for it to set again - it had already been close to a full day, and his infection had progressed to the point where he was practically breathing meth just to stay awake. We had to chance it.

The first group of zombies was fairly easy to lose. The second group nearly had him a couple of times, and he sustained some nasty bites, but I managed to break away and evade them by running around the doctor’s office before breaking in through a side window.

Inside, I found an office with a locked door, and as luck would have it, my dude had no lockpicking chops whatsoever. I was ready to break it down with my character’s fire axe, but when I checked his inventory, it was nowhere to be found. I don’t know if I messed up and left it behind, or if his failing strength caused him to drop it somewhere along the way, but it was gone. And to make matters worse, a zombie had followed him into the building and was coming in fast.

I tried attacking it with his sling, but there wasn’t enough time to land a hit, so I switched to a hammer and tried to melee his way out. But between assorted wounds and his infection, his strength had dropped to zero, and he was completely unable to either damage the zombie or break its grip.

After some futile struggling, I realized it was truly hopeless and thought, screw it. I had him grab a baggie and just go to town. He’d dropped his pipe as his strength failed him, so he just stood there snorting meth until he finally succumbed to the onslaught.

Atreyuapan won’t help with a bite wound, but it will slow an infection like that down a little, giving you a better chance of recovery.

Attempting to run down a Mi-Go Scout on a motorcycle because I was out of ammo and it was too close to my LMOE shelter for comfort. It shot me, and I died and crashed into the forest.

Found out skeletal juggernauts like getting hit with crossbow bolts, machete slices (with silat) AND A SUV GOING 20 MPH, ending that run with me (in the suv) getting crushed to death by the building it bopped me into. I love this game

Well, skelejugg is a bigass bone-plated monstrosity, what did you expect? You’d need either military-grade vehicle or something moving quite faster than 20mph.
…or an asphalt roller.

Also, my last death: tried opening gates of a private resort. From the inside. Got smashed between the car thrown by skelejugg and the wall.
