Well, while i was looking for my sketchbook, i found the notebook with my story in it, and decided to use “Leon’s” version of her, as well as post an excerpt from the page, and yes Fooby, it is.
Excerpt from Leon’s Digital Journal-
"I cannot believe it. She’s still alive. Katie is still alive! It could be someone who looks alot like her, but im optimistic. She was starting a fire about a half a mile from my makeshift cabin. I have to take a closer look.
…
It was her! I walked up to the camp, and despite my little whiskers, she recognized me! Of course i would’ve probably died if it wasn’t her (Gotta remember saftey next time). She’s as beautiful as ever, though. Maybe this Cataclysm is my chance."
I suppose so! Hopefully Ill get better with practice soon enough, then I can give you guys a break from the visual horror xD
Awh, you think so? Thats very kind! Thank you so much, you make me feel alot better
Thank you! I intend on sticking around, you guys are awesome and this thread is unbelievably fun. Also, I know what you mean, but Im quite poor so the mouse is my only option.
Anyways, Ive been doodling a short comic featuring her, its almost done, just need the last panel, Ill probably post it today. I really have to work on a simplistic depiction of Lena, because right now the quality is really bad, I need to find a simpler way to draw that doesnt look even more terrible ^^’
Oi! foobs no re-posting the same material >.< you already posted that when trying to show me how to draw. I come here to see NEW jealousy inducing art of self-loathing. Get your ship together.
I considered the possbility of going for stick figures, given my current drawing skill its probably a much better option, its something I certainly intend on exploring but I figured the best way would be to try different methods and see what works, which is why I didnt go for stick figures from the start. The second reason is that Im not quite sure how I would have added in armor and such, but now that I have some material to give you guys an idea of what she looks like it might be easier.
Edit: Im thinking of maybe adding tiny pieces of the armor in detail like the shoulder and knee plates, that could work. Now to figure out what type of eyes to use and finish the last panel of my first comic strip.
And so ends Lena’s first adventure, turns out turrets are far from the only deadly things in labs. Poor thing didnt even manage to step inside, damn flying can openers @_@
I was re-posting to assist an artist in the making, no ill intent of any sort was intended.
and Kabumpe, (Was writing this before you posted, so nice job on the comics)
If you want to go about making full bodies right off the bat, you should try the sketching approach, use very small segments of line to draw. It all takes time, the more time you put into it, the better it’ll look.
(It’s hard to explain without visual aid so here’s this, but even with the visual aid it’s still kinda difficult…)
Pthalocy, my friend’s mom says drawing with a mouse is like fishing with a hammer.
That being said, I have been pixelling with my track pad, which is horrible because most of the time when I take my finger off, it does two or three pixels that I did not intend to do.

Very carefully… I used to have to do it when I only had a macbook for pixel art. It was absolutely torturous at times.
Edit: Also, great to see your back Fooby. I loved digging through the early pages of this thread to find your work. You’ve got such a cool and unique art style, I’ve never quite seen anything else like it.

Must’ve been, I have a track pad on the laptop I used to use to make my things on and oh boy that thing wasn’t the best at all, always opted for a Mouse.
And thanks, but I was never really gone… I was here, watching… OooooOOoOoOoOoOOOoooo
My protip: do really shitty sketches. This will refine the composition for your piece, and give you a grasp of movement and flow when reading more than one panel. Detail comes in time. I learned detail first over composition and I point to this as the biggest source of my pics looking great and lacking any damn environment or spatial cues whatsoever. Details are the last step, never the first nor middle.
EVEN BETTER PROTIP: PROCEED TO NEITHER REFINE NOR INK SAID DOODLE AND POST THE DRAFT SKETCH.
Drawing many small lines to make a good circle is good for making good circles. Drawing things in one brave stroke and fearing no consequences is a good way to learn how to draw the same way your characters gesture: in fluid motions. Hehe, lookit that poor sap’s head. He uses a circle as a baseline for drawing a square! What a doof that Edmund!
