backstory crossposted from âwhatâs happeningâ
Average Joe McNo-Traits #15 finally made it a day without being mauled by a moose or a mi-go and actually managed to loot the majority of two mansions and a hospital due to an early find of a morningstar in some rich dudeâs dining room.
The fungal bloom nearby has overtaken my well-stocked fortified shelter practically overnight and now it takes me forever to read my skill books with the âPoufâ sound of thousands of spore clouds interrupting my reading and bringing up text prompts to let me know. (I) for ignore further distractions is NOT working on Poufs for me, maybe I have to adjust how long safe mode lasts?
I was tempted to stick around since the fluid I can extract from my new neighbors is welcome indeed, but the Poufs are driving me crazy and I think itâs time to move.
I tend to play pretty slowly since I insist on deleting my character and world when I die so Iâm on day 12 and wearing not much more than long underwear, winter boots, balaclavas, hoodies, and a messenger bag. I realized just now as Iâm typing this that I am not wearing pants. Just long underwear. So Iâm some crazy spore covered dude in a hoodie and long underwear waving his replica morningstar at brainless walking mushrooms and ranting about their incessant âPoufsâ.
edit so as not to double post:
LOGRIN DO MORE DRAWINGS NAOW
That style is wonderful
Your choice of color is exquisite
I am addicted to this drawing like that survivor is to whatever mix of hallucinogens is keeping him going
Sadly I know very few compliment words in English. So I will say that that is awesome, but I will mean a lot more!
Excellent!
Really good!
Amazing!
Fantastic!
Marvellous!
Brilliant!
Now you know more, I would describe those drawings with all of those words personally x3
Fantastic is synonymous with incredible, and, taken literally, is actually an insult. But nobody ever takes it literallyâŚ
Majestic
Resplendent
Awe-inspiring(ye olde awesome)
Shpedoinkle
"It is as though there is a party in my eyes, and everyone is invited!" -but refused to attend -and everyone is hungry maggots -and then I blinked, there were no survivors
Beautiful
Wondrous
Lovely
Enchanting
Gay(connotations of frivolity, putting your smiley-faced engine into your smiley-faced car and effectively conveying the merriment of the scene would be gay, a stunningly realistic rendition of one survivor comforting another after having destroyed a zombified relative would not.)
On that note, accurately discerning the themes of a work allows very specific compliments. Referring to a dramatic scene as dramatic is complimentary, even though drama can often have negative connotations and is basically neutral, while referring to a Monty Python sketch as dramatic would probably be insulting.
Well, itâs never time to stop growing your vocabulary. Thanks!
Man, a lot has happened since I was last on this thread aaaaaa
I donât have much yet to share, but I already posted this over on the Library board, just a redesign of MothChaz to give him a little extra weight (Iâm still figuring out how to draw varied body types) and thicker legs. Because itâs cute.
Stompy legs <3
Hee, thank you I wanted to give MothChaz a bit of a heavier build, in part to make it clear that heâs not gonna be flying any time soon (Although he is still small enough to be picked up, much to his chagrin - see the latest post on the Project Skybreaker thread for a little more on that) and in part because⌠as I already said, I think it makes him look cute. Chubby moths - if only there were a âCuteâ modifier in the game - then again he is still a gross icky bugman and people will probably use that as an excuse to hit him with a newspaper.
The â@â detail sells it to me.
Yes, now I want a pair of @ logo boxer shorts in real life |D
Hereâs something new, also!
Just a little bit of a characterization idea for him - if he doesnât have something sugary or starchy in a while heâs more liable to have an episode of hypoglycemia (Low blood sugar) than others. This was a problem for him before he became a moth, but the shift in his metabolism has likely worsened it.
Now if I could figure out how to mod that in as a character trait I would totally put that on his character sheet in game.
(EDIT: WHOOPS I linked the wrong image - fixed now. Pay no attention to the moth behind the curtain.)
Dâaaaaw, Iâd never hit him with a newspaper! Heâs so fluffyyyy! >w<
Today I experimented with some more gentlemanly clothing:
Because I forgot to draw smoke out the cigarette, letâs just assume I havenât found a lighter yet and I put the cigarette in my mouth in a desperate attempt to look cool. Cigars are too rare q.q
I lĂke seeing your art jakers.
Especialy as i can see it develope and getting better.
keep up the great work
edit:
I meant Sir Jakers!
edit2:
I myself actually stoped smoking.
Its however still a fond memory to me.
I did enjoy smoking.

Thank you!
As for smoking Iâve never really been one for actually doing it - the experience was overall to unpleasant for me. I do however enjoy E-Cigarettes from time to time - cherry flavour is very refreshing. I only use the E-Cig on special occasions however, so thankfully Iâm not addicted to the thing.
I wish I had cigars. Cuban cigars. But a poor man like me can only dream of such things.
More story stuff! In which ChazMothâs project supervisor just canât resist the temptation to pick him up and give him a hug, no matter the costs.
Excerpt from Eliza Farnesâ journal:
âI am currently nursing a bite wound inflicted by Subject C.W. I should have exercised more caution in handling him, given his mistreatment at the hands of Coulterâs department, but⌠there was something about his fluffy appearance and everything heâd been through that made me instinctively want to just⌠pick him up and give him a squeeze and let him know heâs safe now. The bite wasnât too bad - although he did eat part of my sleeve, as well. Thatâs okay, I hated this labcoat - I donât know why the female scientists canât have pockets on their labcoats. But I digress. We apologised to each other shortly afterwards, all C.W. wants is for me to ask him next time I want to hug him. Understandable, I should have known heâd be distrustful of physical contact after Coulter. I hope he isnât beating himself up over this, it really wasnât a big deal, with modern medicine being the way it is. I should probably check in on him again.â
Excerpt from Chazâs journal:
âI still feel really guilty about biting Dr. Farnes today. I honestly couldnât help it, when she picked me up I had no idea what she was going to do, so I just⌠bit her in self defense. Maybe I shouldâve squeaked loudly or something instead, but I acted on instinct, I wanted to be safe as soon as possible so I just clamped down, ate her sleeve. She apologised, I apologised, but Iâve let her know that she can hug me if she asks my permission first. Now that Iâm writing this I forgot to tell her that it can work the other way around - if I ask for a hug sheâs free to hug me. Then again I figure that was probably implied. I donât know, I kind of want a hug now.â
Stay tuned for a little lineup of the two doctors (Farnes and Coulter)! \o/
I don t like moths but your drawings look cute.
Aww, thank you I just have a soft spot for fluffy moths, so I have a lot of fun drawing MothChaz!
Also! Here is Team Skybreaker (Well, the leader of the Skybreaker project and the former employee who was disgraced and moved to another project.)
Dr. Eliza Farnes is firm but fair, and tends to follow the mantra âDo no harm, but take no shit.â She feels really bad about what came of Project Skybreaker, especially after discovering what Coulter was doing, so she takes care of Chaz and helps him recover physically and mentally, up until the Cataclysm strikes and her science team is forced to leave him behind in the lab - She sets him up with some decent outdoors clothing (Already fitted for him) and a keycard to get out of the lab - whether or not she manages to reunite with him is unknown, but she and her team are pretty much safe.
Dr. Shaun Coulter, on the other hand, is an irredeemable asshole. Heâs a sadist and got into the science career path to have a position of power from where he could abuse and degrade test subjects, physically and mentally. He managed to get away with this for quite some time, but once Eliza discovered what he was doing, she promptly had him taken off the job and, although she couldnât get him arrested, he probably got a really shitty job examining minerals or something, something where he wouldnât be of any threat to anyone. After the cataclysm struck his whereabouts were unknown - Chaz is somewhat anxious that he might discover Coulter again, either as a zombie or worse, still alive and kicking. Also I didnât intend for him to look like some ungodly fusion of Space Dandy and Elvis Cridlington from Fireman Sam, it just⌠sorta happened. Whoops.
Dâaaaaaaaaaaw
Chazmoth is quite adorable. :3
