What it says on the tin.
I’m not sure if it’s ever been fixed but vending machines used to/maybe still can sell you dead monsters if they manage to die and fall into their square. This is also the same sort of behavior as rubble entrapping items/corpses of stuff that’s killed on it.
It’s a bugger to fix some of it, too. Thanks for reporting this!
