I’m playing version 488d615 on windows
I do a lab-challenge and the game can never find the stairs, this causes me to spawn at random somewhere in the world.
Your city size is too big for labs to spawn.
No, I just checked that and it still happens with a city size of 1.
OK, checked the json: city has to be big enough (size 4-12), but at the same time it needs to be at least 8 overmap tiles away.
Try medium city sizes, like 4-6.

I just noticed I accidently toggled on classic zombies.
When I shut that off it works every time. Go figure.
Classic zeds = no labs 
So yeah, that was the problem. Glad it’s working now.
Since I have your attention.
Have any of you noticed the many liquids that spawn in labs without containers?
I’m talking about the same version.
Known issue, being worked on.
