A lumberjack’s quiet life in the woods (Android diary)

Hey folks :waving_hand:
I’m 15, from Russia, been playing CDDA on Android for about a year and a half. Took a long break (6-7 months), came back recently and started a fresh save that already feels… special. Not because I’m doing anything epic, but because it just feels right. Wanted to share.
I don’t play to win or min-max. My guy is a lumberjack who just wants a quiet corner in the woods. One NPC friend (not an army), tea with sugar on a wood stove, careful roof raids instead of loud gunfights. That’s my whole vibe.
First few days were wild though:
Spawned in a big city with boosted hordes, escaped through the forest. Found a hidden cabin two tiles off the road. Next day found a pickup at a campsite, drove back - and ran into two bandits who’d set up spike traps on the road. Punctured my tires, I stepped out with my axe… and they literally yelled “Screw this, let’s go!” and bolted :joy: Looted their 20 traps, put them under my windows. Poetic justice.
Later cleared ~20 zombies in a small town using kite-and-axe tactic just to grab my first solar panel. No shooting, no noise. Installed it on the roof, hooked it to my gas generator via garden extension cord. Sunny days = solar, cloudy = generator kicks in. Got a fridge, wood stove for cooking/boiling water, hand pump at the door. Eating jam toast and drinking sweet tea at 3 AM after a horde clear? Peak coziness :hot_beverage:
Right now: base is almost self-sufficient but need a second panel for cloudy days. Bandits are only 7 tiles away, yikes. Looking for a companion eventually, but not rushing - want the base secure first. Playing Classic Zombies (old version without instant-death bites) because watching NPCs die from random scratches was too painful.
After 1.5 years and a long break, I’m not playing the same game anymore. I’m playing my version - slower, quieter, valuing moments over efficiency. This isn’t about surviving forever. It’s about living in this world, even if it ends tomorrow.
