You’re deliberately making the game harder for yourself and then saying that the challenge is “too hard”? That’s like starting a fps game on the “impossible” difficulty setting and then stating that you die a lot. Or, I guess, like me starting a “Really bad day” and then saying that I get eaten by zombies way too much. Aren’t these sorts of self-inflicted hardships the actual challenge to overcome once you’re “good” at the normal game?
That actually does sound quite fun (Heh. My sense of fun could be off). I’m gonna try it too. Side note: I can never decide whether it’s better to leave the wet towel on for wind protection, or take it off cos water-logged towels decrease your temperature.
My usual starting ritual for my previous No-Skills character:
[ol][li]Tear down curtains from one window, wield heavy stick[/li]
[li]Smash a bunch of lockers and benches with the stick, don’t worry about damaging the stick at all[/li]
[li]Make the heavy stick into a cudgel (I do this after smashing up stuff so it’s in top condition)[/li]
[li]Use the two sheets from the de-curtained window to craft two makeshift slings - wear one to store more stuff for a little bit[/li]
[li]Disassemble and reassemble the sling I’m not wearing until I level up to Survival 1[/li]
[li]Unequip/drop slings and cut one up into rags[/li]
[li]Make a spike with the remnants of one of the lockers I smashed earlier[/li]
[li]Use the spike with a two-by-four and a rag to make a knife spear[/li]
[li]Go downstairs once I’ve equipped one of my weapons - in case I have a zombie basement and I need to stab/whack stuff[/li]
[li]Grab anything useful from the basement, check my map, make notes and plans for approaching places, head out into the world.[/li][/ol]
Of course, I’ve reconfigured my starting build so I now have Fabrication, Survival and First Aid all at level 2, so I don’t need to do the Makeshift Sling Shuffle anymore, I can skip straight to cutting a sheet into rags, making a spike and making the spear, while turning the stick into a cudgel (My mantra for starting weaponry is “Stabby for Fleshy, Smashy for Boney” - The knife spear does sod-all against skeletons in the early game, so that’s when the cudgel comes in handy!)
