Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

You now have two wonderful options! Shift-Q or Shift-Z, the choice is yours

You could also see if you could find some royal jelly, that will cure it.

Noticed a thing and figured I’d share it, haven’t seen it mentioned before.

Looking at shrubs trains survival mind shatteringly fast.

Simply examining the special forest shrubs had an unskilled character at level three survival in minutes. Game time, not real time.

Yeah, it’s pretty good for early training. Examining the strawberry and blueberry bushes also works well, and gets you some useful early snacks that can also help stave off thirst.

CRAP. I wish I’d known that earlier.

At the moment I’m in my second created world and once again I can’t find any medical supplies except stimulants and first aid.

Also there’s a serious food shortage.

Edit: Actually seems examining berry bushes does nothing for me.

Food gets easy enough once you’ve trained up Survival sufficiently to harvest decent quantities of meat from dead animals. Gather lots of stones or a metal tank and you’ll be able to add a fireplace or wood stove to your base, after which indoor cooking becomes easy.

You could try searching schools for the royal jelly if you want that cure all medicine. Schools are relatively risk less compared to hives and at least you will find 1 inside the school chemistry classrooms

Hm, there are schools around but in that game I had no way of fighting all the zombie kids.

At least now if I can get to a shotgun I can depopulate the local town since I’m using static spawn. Nearly managed it! But I was super low on health (NO IDEA how I somehow beat all the zombies to death with a nail board with that much health) and eventually a shocker zapped me.

Anyway I tried again and something weird happened. I was below weight limit, only had slight pain, and was high on both crack and adderall.

My speed was insanely high. Something like 160% normal.

But the zombies were faster than me. All of them. WTF?

That doesn’t usually happen. What can cause that?

Were you wearing anything heavily encumbering on your legs? Mouth Encumbrance is also supposed to slow you down, but according to some reports that isn’t active.

It isn’t active.

Surely that would show up in the status menus though? There was NO speed reduction present other than a tiny bit from pain. Far outweighed by the bonuses.

Oddly at another point in time the zombies were instead acting slow and completely and utterly stupid. They weren’t even seeing me unless I went close.

Can i put bubblewrap over landmines?
Will the landmines explode if my traps skill is too dumb?

Because y’know , i want to hear it when someone challenges his luck on my minefield.

Wouldn’t you hear the explosion…? I guess every landmine needs that extra “POP”

Does bubblewrap actually have a function?

If you activate it, you can lay it down as a floor trap. It does no harm to anything that steps on it, but the sound can alert you to danger.

It’s also crazy fricken loud. It’s damn near guaranteed to wake you up.

Also, DG: You said you were fighting shockers right? If you ended up electrocuted sometimes you get paralyzed for X amount of turns.
AKA you’re a free brain buffet. doesn’t matter what your speed is then :stuck_out_tongue:
Most of the time you wake up while the shocker and his friends and munching on your face.

Ah, that’s very possibly what happened.

New question… I’ve been reinforcing my gear. Why is the game telling me that I’ve “practised my sewing” when I try with certain items like glove liners and steel toed boots? I have the right materials to repair or reinforce with but they will not reinforce. My other stuff reinforced OK.

Edit: My bad, it seems to work eventually. I guess it works on a probability.

Yeah, the probability of a success increase with skill. Practicing your sewing is the polite way to say you failed.

Nah, fail is when you destroy the piece of clothing in your attempts to fix it.

Speaking of tailoring how to you tailor them to fit you?

I also killed a zombie master and his brute butchered the bodies so will zombies stop spawning?
