Definitely not. If you want to see NPCs, try to stay in one place for a while - they usually will spawn around you when enough time passed. A nomadic lifestyle makes it…harder to find random npcs, at least from my experience. you can obviously still find them every once in a while, but its easier to miss them.
Also,bad luck maybe?
Perhaps in an ironic way, one NPC did appear… trying to shoot me with a submachine gun while my character was asleep.
On the bright side, it gave a great opportunity to test out the burst capability of the RM360 rotary carbine.
They aren’t overly talkative, are they?
Aye, I know now. Thank dog I have an extended magazine for my M4. Things would have got uglier otherwise.
How’s the carbine then?
The carbine is pretty nice. I got a lot of .22 rounds. Single shots do nice damage; several crit shots can kill a brute. So far, the burst fire instantly killed the NPC, and 20 .22 bullets are pretty cheap. Tried it on a migo, same result. Then for a test I used debug to spawn a hulk; killed in two bursts. It was 8 tiles away at first and the second burst had it at 2 tiles. When it was 8 tiles away it was either good shots or crits. Closer and it was crits and headshots. Heavily armored targets like a shoggoth are immune to the shots, however. Ditto tank drones. This is at level 3 submachine gun skill and 6 marksmanship.
It’s got low recoil; with a few mods steadiness doesn’t drop after a burst. Shots do decent damage on most targets, and ammo is light. On big flaw, I suppose, is the amount of sound it makes. My character has the poor hearing trait, and one single shot is around 70-80 sound.
Oh, and it’s range ain’t to hot either. 13 tiles is the max it can go, it seems. Basically it feels like a shotgun; with bursts of ammo instead of one big blast, and loud.
Is there any way to disable mods after the world is generated?
I started with some mods to try them out, but i don’t like them and i want to get them out if it’s possible, but the char is really good so i wouldn’t want to lose it by resetting the world.
In the save folder, there’s a mods.json file that lists the mods it uses. owo
Do i delete the file or alter it somehow?? If i do that, can it break the game in some way or is it totally safe to do?
It can be edited to remove mods from the list of ones in-use. It depends on the mod’s content whether it’ll break anything though.

There’s also a way to import a character to another world… it’s been mentioned here before, but I don’t remember it.
Unrelated question: how does one make something “foldable”? I think wheels below a certain size, cargo holding spaces, small gas tanks, swappable battrey cases, and solar panels (especially solar panels!) should be “foldable” at the same size they are when disconnected. Put some solar panels on foldable frames for travel, then set it up again when you get where you’re going, you know? Sure, it’s bulky, but no more so than simply taking the thing apart and putting it back together again…
If I recall, the main thing is a vehicle part entry needs a fold volume assigned. I think there’s also a flag for it.
Presumably if ALL parts on the vehicle are foldable, you can fold it. One caveat though: normally you can’t fold it without installing controls, as otherwise examining the vehicle will simply open the vehicle menu. But if the vehicle is resting on a tile that you’ve dropped an item on, you’ll bypass that skipping and see the options to examine vehicle, pick up item, or fold vehicle.

In your world’s directory, there’s mods.json. Edit it in a text editor and remove the lines with mods you no longer want.
Don’t remove mods that define new items or creatures, it will break the game.
Cool. I think I remember that carbine actually; found it once. Never got to practise shooting with it, probably due to another in-game death.

Thanks, that means i will have to stick with them :).
Just checked item browser for stone axe…
Errrr how does one learn Carpentry?
Carpentry is construction, as I recall. Seems to be the old name for it.
Is it normal that critters don’t leave corpses if you hit them hard enough? I’ve been running around with a Diamond Katana, Niten Ichi-Ryu and Prime stats and apparently I’m exploding most enemies into thin red mist and some chunks.
Yes. If the damage is high enough the critters goes past pulped and into exploded.

If you’re at 0 construction skill, you can build it up by digging pits and deconstructing furniture.
There is a skill called carpentry?
In german its called bau.
That would translate to build/building.
edit:
This sounds reasonable.
By the way, what is this Niten Ichi-Ryu? there’s no description for it in wiki. Is it good? what bonuses it provides? What skill does it scale off?
Also, while we’re at it, why do these books that teach you fencing an niten ichi-ryu and the like have the text ‘just for fun’ in their description? I avoided them before because i thought they are some religious crap. How do i know which ones are religious and which ones give nice styles?
