It used to work automatically when you fell down a pit. But not sure how it works now.
Yeah, it does. All in source, so no James Bond grappling hook belts without source tweaks.
Anyway, testing and so far I see no sign of a construction that works on lava.
Personal attacks of someone’s mental state aren’t something people deal with equally. I am unsurprised and sad that he resigned.

Not sure he resigned. He just isn’t here anymore. And his lasts posts on the forum referenced something like feeling undervalued. Or at least the reactions to the whole mycus mutation line were underwhelming or something. But im not sure. So don’t take my remarks for truth.

I saw a lot of little actions that did amount to undervaluing. Or at the very least, it seemed like nobody was on the same page when KA had something to say, and it left him constantly feeling the outsider from what I could ever gather. I can’t assume I’m on the same page with anybody either.
He did excellent work, and quite frankly, I think people could have thought a little longer on what they were typing in a lot of cases. Still do, truth be told. Nothing I want to get direct about, I don’t like making mountains out of molehills. I’m sick of seeing molehills down people too though.
He didn’t make it easy to like him. The thing that irked a lot of people (source: myself, various comments on here and the DDA community of 4chan) was him constantly jumping in to make corrections of people’s word choices if he felt they were offensive. Which is, like, fine if he holds strong personal beliefs, but getting preachy at people and gently chiding them every time they say something that isn’t PC in his opinion doesn’t help you make a lot of friends. I also see a lot of mocking of his consistent use of gender-neutral pronouns
And stemming off of that, people’s personal opinions of him made them see more flaws in the work he did for Cataclysm and made them more inclined to ignore the positives. Personally, I like the idea of Mycus a lot, it’s one of the more complicated and fleshed-out mutation systems and it adds some interesting lore to the game, with its’ relationship to the blob and everything.
Gonna point out the elephant in the room at the risk of publically saying personal things of someone not present, which I hold to be a big fat no. I was under the understanding that he did in fact have autism. Or however one correctly expresses it, I do not remember if it is a condition one ‘has’ or ‘is’. Do people just not fucking take that into account? Point is, he took a shit-ton of care not to offend people, and tried to push for others to similarly work on their word choices and awareness of other’s lifestyle choices, or other facets of life. Easier to say Xe than to assume. You can always ask and learn about someone better by not assuming. He was doing something that made sense, and he was consistent about it. I respected that.
Everybody else frequently seemed to get up in his case for coming across socially awkward, as if being social via a text medium completely lacking in tone might be really damn difficult for some people. That’s what I meant by “never on the same page”. He viewed things differently, and I think a lot of people just pidgeonholed him as ‘difficult and unlikeable’ and then walked over him like that was his fault. You’re right about people’s personal opinions and mockery going down badly. Disliking someone’s work because you dislike the person is ridiculous and frankly irrational. I hate LC but if he did work as great as he claimed, I’d probably laud the work as good. They are distinct thinks that should be judged independently.
It’s entirely why I’m still defending KA101. Kinda felt like nobody did.
If I was out of line in anything I said, he or others are free to correct me on the matter via pm.
I like him.

Who’s LC?
A repeat offender and bandodger originally coming in and presenting as a coder. He did not play nice. The onslaugh of heckling, spam, and self-aggrandizing was the stuff of supervillain legends. It just got worse. Imagine the spam that happened here today, but every post has it’s own little flavour of accusation and ego blindness, and a paper trail of every other project he’s tried to pull money from, or take credit for. Our kickstarter, and several phone apps and other forums. He would communicate incessantly, while being perfectly uncommunicative. He promoted his own branch of a modded CDDA, incomplete, rip-offy, and just plain bad coding. His behaviour would have you think he believes his shit truly smells of roses and that we’re all mistakes on earth. Truly, I have never seen anyone like that.
I hope to never again.
A true tip to newcomers: LazyCat is our forum’s boogeyman. Not LazyCatRUS, who I believe is one of our russian translation helpers. They’re cool. Random_dragon’s comment previous to mine sums up my post in far fewer words. I would have been wise to simply quote them.

Inadequate is someone separate. I was not here for their run, or if I was, I missed most of their reasons for being banned. Or maybe they left? I don’t know the story behind that one I’m afraid.
See, the thing about Inadequate is that I can’t tell if he was a troll or not. He certainly acted like a troll, in that he would come into positive discussions and try to tear them down with negativity, but I couldn’t count many of his posts as actual shitposting, as he usually had some understandable grievances that he was airing, primarily with the design direction of DDA. He never fully explained what his problems were, but they generally involved the balance of the game being skewed as too easy. I think. Like I said, it wasn’t ever very clear.
He was eventually banned for good in the following situation: In some thread or another, a different user had written a long post thanking all the devs for their work, giving feedback on their favorite parts of the game, and generally having a positive and grateful attitude. Inadequate responded with “Seek serious help”. I assume that this was the straw that broke the camel’s back because of the fact that it contributed nothing to the discussion besides insulting the user, and maybe whoever banned him saw it as making the assumption that for the poster to have written what he did, he must have some sort of mental illness and that’s why he needed “serious help”.
Let me say though, at least Inadequate was incredibly quotable.
You summed that up better than I did by far. That’s about all I ever knew, apart from how they ultimately left CDDA.
Topical thread question: do any of the monsters or critters that infight have priorities over what they fight? Like, I can’t tell if a bear prefers me over moose or if I just have bad luck.
It seems to me that everything favours you.
but if you can run 2 monsters into eachother and quickly gain more range to them then they have to eachother (best by running away) they usualy start to tear into eachother.
No, dont think so at least, they attack first what’s closer, and will keep on that target unless something else stays close to them for a long while or attacks them.
Also, I thought we were over this stuff.
