How do you harvest oaks for acorns? Are oaks a special kind of tree?
That sounds really useful - I don’t see such a list in the Item Browser.

You can check energy drain in data/json/vehicle_parts.json. The value “epower” is max energy usage/production.
There is no strict limit on weight supported. It will simply slow the vehicle down. Volume limits are now displayed in vehicle install menu.
Yes. In ASCII, they’re brown. In tilesets their tile should look different too.
You can also harvest pines for bough and cones. Cones can be used to make a snack, bough can be used to brew tea that can then be used instead of broth to make soup (pine tea doesn’t rot, so it’s a good idea to stockpile some).
So, in my not-LP world I am gonna try and actually survive out in the wild, rather than settling in a house (At least until I get sufficiently equipped to take on a town). As someone who still has trouble surviving in general, I figured I’d ask and see if anyone had any tips for actually pulling off the living-in-the-wild side of things! I’m sure there’ve already been responses regarding this but any up-to-date information about wilderness survival 101 is appreciated, of course.
Hmm I was looking at the wiki last week or something and found that certain bushes when searched give all kinds of goodies, but all the best stuff is seasonal and isn’t present during the winter so search those bushes before then. Um… make something with all the wood, especially skewer or sharpened stick for cooking, and because sharpened sticks make great throwing spears so you can kill zeds without taking damage early in game (or at least less)
Hey cool, I forgot you could use skewers for cooking with! Thanks for the tip - that was my main hangup, I didn’t have anything to cook with and I didn’t know how to make even basic cookware, ahaha. Searching bushes is something I need to make sure to do more often, too.
early game i also often carry pointy sticks arround for cooking and throwing.
good thinking punk.
You can easily feed yourself from the bushes alone unless it’s winter.
The biggest problems with living in the wild is lack of shelter and clothing. And lack of weak zeds to train melee skills on.
training up your throwing at any opportunity helps with the zeds thing. You can even train it without hitting an actual zed. As for shelter, hitting the outskirts of a town, especially a small one and luring single zeds away is a great way to get access to enough cloth and clothing, hopefully enough to be able to make a tent or something.

So, is it like pine trees, where I pick boughs by [e]xamining them?
Yep.
Thanks!
Handicapped negative trait! Moves extremely slowly without a wheel chair, also there will be wheel chair lifts in cars. :3
there are folding frames that you can make that will store in vehicles but you have to make them.
Can you turn off Dynamic NPCs mid game? I haven’t had any nasty encounters with them but they are starting to infest this city and I’m getting paranoid one of them is going to loot my stash.
?, 2, world options, change whatever settings you want. I had to turn off NPCs due to them teleporting inside and stealing everything plus robbing me inside my own locked home. Also had to disable hordes due to them hearing a twig snap five miles away and magically knowing exactly where it was.

You can already have both your legs broken. This would work kind of the same way really. I guess you’d mean that this would apply permanently or something? Like instead of having broken legs, you’d have no leg hp at all, and no way to get your legs back or something instead?

Thanks.
I have a typical newb questions:
Is it possible to have more than 12 points of negative traits? I almost always take “Addictive Personality”, “Glass Jaw”, “Heavy Sleeper”, “Trigger Happy”, “Ugly”, and I would like to have more negative traits, because I need more positive ones. With STR: 11, DEX: 12, INT: 12 and PER: 10 I have so few points left, I can’t get any useful positive traits. Currently I have “Fast Reader”, “Fleet-footed” and “Weak Scent”, but I would love to have Nightvision, “Fast Learner” and maybe “Quick”. I would love to have trait points cap raised to 20.
How can I “take energy” from destroyed vehicle and how can I store it?
I know there is a way to charge your car’s battery from another car, but I can’t get it to work. How exactly do you do it?
How can I destroy walls? I don’t want to crash the car into them and I know there is another way

In options, debug section. Negative traits aren’t balanced well and often are basically free points, especially if you’re playing the “experiment” or “lab” scenario.
You can only grab parts and fuel. Get a wrench, 1 mechanics (can be acquired by reinforcing stuff with soldering iron or using picklocks) and you can start robbing car batteries from any cars you pass. You can’t use them outside a vehicle, though.
'e’xamine the car, rem’o’ve old battery (takes a wrench and 1 mechanics), 'i’nstall a new one. Though you don’t need to remove old batteries, you can keep a lot of batteries with no ill effects. Just make sure that they aren’t heavily damaged or they’ll leak charge.
Either create a homewrecker (easy to do in a city) or find a sledge hammer. If you’re desperate, burning also works.
also find a jack hammer or a jauqueshammer why do you need to destroy walls anyways?
