Lab starts are actually really fun. Just make sure your cooking level is high enough to at least learn how to make dynamite and you’re golden.
Yeah, lab starts are so easy I quit doing them. If you need an easy mode, that’s it.
It really is, starting mutations, and if you’re lucky a good weapon (Machete) and maybe military items and a whole bunch of mutagens and a pile of chemicals that you can convert into explosives.
Hunting and gathering is easy- However, very new characters with no skills and no weapons to speak of are going to have a huge problem getting food on the first few days, especially when you can barely cook.
In the woods you can find enough food to survive day 1 with no skills, no weapons, no problems. You just need a way of cooking better than a skewer, so a pot or frying pan. Even with level 0 survival you can usually find enough wild vegetables and eggs on the first day to be fine. And if you don’t you can always search through the night as your survival skill goes up. Just gotta be careful of the wolves/bears/moose.
And back then, you could just make a fire to destroy lab walls.
Yeah, but that was also before Z-levels, so you could start a fire… but you had to stay there until the way was clear! That could actually be one of the more dangerous ways to get out.
Even that isn’t really that bad… eat the eggs raw, if you have to (odds of bad things happening from that are very low)while get your skills up enough to make a stone pot.
The only dangerous part was the turret - back then fire didn’t actually deal proximity damage in any shape or form, only direct damage and smoke effect (counterable with mouth env protection). And the turret could actually be killed by chucking planks at it.
Quick, Fleet-Footed, Indefatigable 20/20/20/20 Parkour Expert character on rollerblades usually has no issues until running to some nasty things, like helidrone.
