Outer Heaven gets a healthy supply of wolf spiders, jumping spiders, rabbits, squirrels, once a few wolves, coyotes, Cougars , and the occassional moose or bear. It’s also right next to a river; food and water are pretty much a nonissue.
I’m still working on my base. I’m hardcore on a different level. I make the ENTIRE base from scratch. It’s more time consuming, but it allows me to make the base precisely the way I want it.
I also reworked the repair bay, because dragging vehicles works weird in the game right now. Currently, whenever I tried to drag it, it would flip around on the opposite side of my character, so it basically looked like he suplexed the damn thing. I compacted it into a cube so it has the same dimensions as a quad bike, and I strapped an electric motor to it along with a seat and vehicle controls. So now in my mind’s eye it looks something like a forklift.
I made the kitchen and living quarters, and I went back to town and gutted a ton of display racks to get pipes to make metal racks back at the base. All the components for crafting recipes are right next to the kitchen unit. I also make occasional visits to the river to fill a jerrycan with clean water to fill up the kitchen unit at the base. Two water tanks hold an enormous amount of water. The jerrycan holds up to 25 litres, and filling up the tanks with a full jerrycan only fills it up less than 10%.
