# New trait: local; New profession: truck driver

I’m liking how this is turning out, maybe it should give a book to start studying driving as the tailor profession does, rather then the free skill point?

If something is your profession, meaning your job, then why would you need a book to study it?

Though imagine how awesome it would be if you could learn stuff from books in a matter of hours in real life. (Unless you forget it the next day…)

Yeah, I dunno, people with jobs typically do refer to manuals and professional publications. That’s why lawyers and doctors have all those books behind them in those commercials on daytime television.
Maybe the tailor isn’t used to cobbling trenchcoats together with shredded up rags from drapes and bedsheets, so he does a bit of research on the best methodology to create such a thing. Or the truck driver references his ‘DOT Driver’s Handbook 2022’ for the best technique for putting zombies under the right front wheel in congested urban areas.

The fumbling with controls thing is there only because there are just straight roads. Otherwise there’s no difficulty in driving straight, you don’t even have to touch the wheel for that.

Starting with a skill book is bad, because sitting around reading a book for several hours should not be an option at the very start of the game. If it’s expected that you’re going to do that, you might as well start with the skill already learned, and skip to a more interesting task.
