# Mystery explosion and death

So, I’m really hoping someone can tell me what just happened.
There I am, chilling in my evac shelter, probably my character with the most progress ever, I am an awesome Karate fighter and have (virtually) endless supplies of ammoa and food and have already placed new furniture in the shelter.
I am dead tired, so I decide to go to sleep, my bed is roughly in the middle of the shelter.
Then I wake up from a sound. Some “wham” or something. What I see is that: The left lower corner of my shelter is being torn apart. There is rubble, and smoke, and everything. Confused I’m not sure what to do. I decide to go grab my best shotgun from the lower right corner of the shelter. I notice the wreckage is spreading. I decide to move away from the spreading destruction. Too slowly however, as I am suddenly dead. Killed by a shrapnel to the head.
So, what happened? (I’m all in favor of random events that set you back in your struggle for life, bu that was a bit harsh.)

You have hordes on. A hulk busted through the wall and a smoker popped through too. You died when the roof fell on you.

Horde is a presumption based on the information provided. If you did have hordes on, yeah, that’s a reasonable explanation, but I wouldn’t read it in.

Possibilities include:
Horde attack including a hulk and a smoker.
NPC deciding to shoot at you or a harmless squirrel with a grenade launcher.
Hrm, those are the only options I can think of at the moment.

That reminds me, I haven’t seen any squirrels in my cata games for a very, very long time. They used to be swarming everywhere as rock pelting practice/food.
Did you guys remove them/ turn them WAY down?

Probably moved out by other woods spawns? Used to be squirrels were one in 5 or so; now it’s more like 1 in 20.

Ah, I see only now that I posted in the wrong thread.
Thanks alot for moving it.
Yeah, I didn’t have hordes turned on, so that can’t be it.
I did have random NPCs turned on, however, and killed and ate pretty much every human I met, so maybe one of them was coming back to get revenge, or something.
On the other hand, at first I heard a “whack” or something, then nothing for one turn, and then apparently the roof crashed on me. I suppose a grenade launcher would just make my wall explode instantly.
