# Mission: faction succession

It allows transferring control to companions. I have two questions:
1. I have a base camp and two companions. Why is the mission still not completed?
2. Is transferring control possible only when my character dies?

My understanding is that the “mission” is completed by actually performing a succession, which I have no interest in.
Based on discussions, I believe you can now transfer the leadership manually once every so often (3 months?). I also believe you get the option to transfer the leadership upon your character’s death. However, I’ve experienced neither, so the info is uncertain.

The faction camp Bulletin Board has a “Choose New Leader” option. I’ve never used it, but assume it will work when the preconditions are met.

The mission is just there to inform you about the cooldown.
