So there must be a way to do this, because I notice when I activate my frying pan to heat something up it stays where it is, but when I do it with my makeshift pot it ends up in my inventory.

Does anyone actually want things you activate to end up in your inventory? Washboards, towels, etc?

I would vastly prefer they didn’t, so I can leave towels near the entrances to my base and set up little workstations for tailoring, washing, etc.

+1, it would be great to be able to both (a)ctivate and use actions menu using items nearby without taking them to inventory.
