# Italian Translation

Hello everyone,
i’m pretty new here on the forum, but i’m following this game since the very beginning and I would like to make an Italian translation of it.
I’m an Italian-native speaking man of 29 YO. I live actually in Rome .
Could I do that?
This would be my first time.

Ok. There is two possible variants.
First. Join to launchpad. [https://translations.launchpad.net/cdda/trunk/+translations](https://translations.launchpad.net/cdda/trunk/+translations) Translation on launchpad is extremely outdated. It’s free to registration and join to translators team. But launchpad as translation system is not good. Read more: [http://smf.cataclysmdda.com/index.php?topic=4771.0](http://smf.cataclysmdda.com/index.php?topic=4771.0) Furthermore, cdda project owner on launchpad is left long time ago :/. But it’s work and many languages is translated on launchpad.
Second. Join to [transifex.com](http://transifex.com): [https://www.transifex.com/organization/cataclysm-dda-translators/dashboard/cataclysm-dda](https://www.transifex.com/organization/cataclysm-dda-translators/dashboard/cataclysm-dda) Right now on transifex we translating cdda on Russian Argentinian and Spanish languages. It’s work fine and controlled by me and Kevin Granade(as backup option). If you want to choose transifex i will make export of Italian translation from launchpad and give you permissions to add new members.
Anyway, I regularly synchronize translations from transifex and launchpad to development branch on [github.com](http://github.com) on every Wednesday.

I’ve take a look at launchpad, I saw it is a little bit outdated.
I think i’ll join transifex. is it up to date?

Review is mechanism of strings confirmation. When many translators working on same project, they can make some error in some strings. So reviewers can correct them. Translated, but not reviewed string can be changed by other translator or reviewer. Reviewed string can be changed only by other reviewer.
Who?? Hmm… I guess, This is you and some people who you trust.

Another question: there’s a way i could use the ongoing translation?? So I could check if everything is in order an appropriate translated for the case being.
I’m not very practical with programming languages.

Ok. Yes I have way. I guess, you are using Windows OS.
I have website with compiled translations. [heresy.soapfire.ru/cataclysm-dda](http://heresy.soapfire.ru/cataclysm-dda) Right now it’s used only for Russian. But i can easily add Italian to this web-page. I will make this on Weekend and give you link.
This site is updated every 3 hour.

Thank you very much!
The game wouldn’t load the translation, so I had to rename the it\_IT folder to it in order to get it working. This should be the new localized header.

You should already be able to translate (just join the group), getting your request to be accepted also allows you to mark the translations as reviewed, albeit it isn’t necessary since I am already working on it. (Also seonder is the admin of the group, he’ll accept your request)
