# Is there a way I can run CDDA on Windows in my terminal

I started off playing CDDA on Linux and I really liked how nice it looked in my terminal. Now despite what Ive tried I cant get CDDA to run in cmd. Has anyone got a fix for this?

you’d need curses for windows… hmmm.
maybe [cygwin](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cygwin) can help you with this?
PS. Having played in the terminal for a bit, i really can’t play sdl anymore. Just seems different

You have a bunch of options.
[ul][li]You can still use the SDL version and disable tiles in the options.[/li]
[li]You can [download the console version](http://dev.narc.ro/cataclysm/jenkins-latest/Windows/Curses/).[/li]
[li]You can [compile it yourself](https://github.com/remyroy/Cataclysm-DDA/blob/master/COMPILING.md#rough-guide-to-building-with-only-msys2) without SDL.[/li][/ul]
