# How to Change Start Location(s)

I’ve been trying to use Notepad++ to change the starting location of the Evac Shelter start, but even when I change the allowed locations in the json files, I still spawn at the shelter… why does this happen?

I want to change the default spawn location to a random spawn location off of a list of locations.

Did you hit / to change locations during character creation?

The way I made Really Bad Day work for lab starts, was I added “lab\_stairs” to the array of “allowed\_locs” on line 45 in data/json/scenario/scenario.json.

You need to create a starting location .json with he building you want and then put that in the scenario you are playing in and you will get to choose that building as a start in that scenario only.
