# How do you get NPCs to unequip certain clothing?

Devon Bull is being stupid and is wearing a bunch of unnecessary stacking clothing on him, causing him to have 33+41 encumbrance on his torso.
He isn’t an especially good fighter in the first place, and that amount of stuff in the way will be extremely detrimental on top of that.

I know how to reorder it, but not _unequip_ it.

It’s in that same screen. You can literally hit (?) to get help and it gives you an explanation of how to remove and equip new armor from that screen.
I think the key is (U) to unequip the selected armor, but it’s been a minute since I’ve had companions so I don’t recall for sure.

Don’t forget to take it from them after you unequip it.
