I was driving my flatbed truck through a bridge surrounded by swamps in a thunderstorm, when my steering locked up and the entire truck went over the rails. After swimming to the surface, i was instantly set upon by giant frogs, mosquitoes and dragonflies. After unloading all 8 shells of my Mossberg into 8 separate frogs, I finally succumbed to my multiple wounds.

I misplaced my fusion gun and could not find it again. I hopped on my modified flatbed truck and drove straight to a swamp at top safe speed. The plan was to see how many critters I could mow down before the end. Fewer than I expected. Perhaps I underestimated trees in their ability to hurt cars. Rather soon my car blew up, taking me with it.
Now I can get the new stuff. Compiling a new build as I type this.

I got out of my car to try to light the plants around that plant monster queen (I forgot it’s name) on fire, and I didn’t notice the wolf spider coming at me. I had both my legs and my right arm broken after 2 consequent mines (I’m still not sure how I survived those with the hardcore trait), so it killed me before I could move 2 towards my car.

New 0.5 char was pretty badly hurt very hungry and very thirsty armed with only a crossbow. I take on a bear to get at a house with some good loot I can see through the window, I shoot the bear fail to kill it and it mauls me death.

Was killing off some jumping spiders & a cougar with my nailgun, and didn’t realize that the one whacking me was a wolf spider … brown on brown background is, well, not my kind of thing currently.

First day I stepped on a mine, but only broke one of my legs. I found a semi, managed to fuel it, the same day I found a lot of armor and a SCAR-H. Second day I found food, water, tools. 3rd day it was getting dark, I wanted to read some before going to sleep, I pressed the wrong key, fell through my semi’s floor and died…

Was driving my flatbed to the gas station to fill it up. Lost control and ran into a spider web that I had lit on fire a few days before.

After playing a few hours, some npcs spawned north of my camp near a shelter. I decided to check out what they were up to or if i could trade with them. As i got closer i heard gunfires near the shelter and when i got near the npc he was fighting a Bear ffs… he died quite quickly then the bear ran after me (cant outrun them and my hammer was of no use lol) and teared me appart. ☹
I HATE BEARS!!!
p.s: leave shotgun traps alone, they hurt a lot if you fail to disarm them ☹

Agreed, npcs are dicks, now i karate their asses or bash their skulls in as soon as i see them (gotta lova punching them in the eyes so they dont see anything and just stand still)

Hi guys, been playing Cata:DDA for about a month now, am hooked with the depth and thought that with DDA being a roguelike my first post should be here.
My first Character left the shelter and pretty much instantly found crates in the middle of nowhere containing 4 grenades, opiate-grade painkillers and lots of clothes which I thought would be quite useful to get into a Military Outpost a bit south of the shelter, “knowing” about morale effecting XP gain i ate some Oxy and happily strolled in that Ops general direction.
When I saw that it was guarded by turrets, I started to edge them in the hopes of getting close enough to throw a grenade, but due to my unfamiliarity with how they are handled i activated one and accidentally threw an unactivated one from the stack, backed up taking it step by step by step by…

Second character starts in the same shelter, I loot a few houses, find some food, but no weapons and decide to check out where my last incarnation bit the dust. I find the corpse and strangely enough 2 working grenades, I start to edge closer to the turrets and activate a grenade.
I took a step, knowing that i have 5 turns, throw it (at 0 throwing skill ofc) and realize that my character was so inept at throwing (or stoned) that i basically dropped it 2 tiles away from me. the turrets missed me, I assumed because i was too far away. Unsure if I am far away enough to avoid the blast, I decide to be a bamf, run two steps to grab and throw the grenade, but when i am on top of it, the turrets blast my arms into oblivion.

Third character starts in the same goddamn shelter, but I decide to NOT engage in fisticuffs with turrets using goddamn grenades ever again and circle the city, when i happen upon a dead military patrol where i find a Milkor MGL and 10x 40mm frags. I go through the stages of grief instantly but sadly stop at bargaining because (thats what i said to myself) those things dont arm unless they are a safe distance away from the user, [glow=green,2,300]at least I cannot possibly blow myself up again…[/glow]

crashed through a building doing 1,100 mph, car caught fire and I died
screens: eventually internet is acting up, and yes, im shooting for 2,000 MPH still got a ways to go.

So, I got an android who came with the ability to eat batteries for fuel, and adamantine claws. Nice!
Problem: I ran out of power with my claws out.
I could not disassemble anything for batteries, nor could I pick them up off the floor to consume them. My claws prevented me from anything dexterous. They also prevented me from eating regular food.
Deciding I didn’t want to suicide the old fashioned way, OR starve to death, I ran out into a field and jumped inside the first available giant worm.
