What it says on the tin. After all, a window is a structural weakness.

Or at least we should be able to tack a curtain onto them like vehicle doors. Any objects/thoughts?

This sounds good.  
It would be even better if metal curtains were multi-tile and supported multi-tile opening. I’ll try to get it to work.

I imagine it’s more of a large peephole/slit than an actual window, at least in case of heavy-duty hatches.
