# Dogs are much faster

Basically dogs flee with unstoppable speed even when they are hostile and you can’t get near them to activate the dog food. It’s not funny anymore.

Can you tame dogs by throwing dog food toward them? Similar to NetHack?

No. You have to use it when adjacent.

Obvious solution would be to use it when the dog’s in attack position, but not sure how feasible that is in practice.

go into …/cata/data/json/monsters.json and open it with notepad.

Then find mon\_dog and change speed:150 to like 100 (speed of a deer) or like 125.

Then you’re done.

You should probably be able to get a dog to approach you if you use dog food.
