# Do shoggoths ever appear anywhere besides locked up in labs?

They may appear from a portal just like any other netherworld creature.

Had one near a slime pit.

It was friendly enough to clear a city for me.

Very rarely near slime pits, sometimes near portals, extremely rarely near scientist corpses. Always fun to start a new character, step outside to grab some rocks and hear “Tekeli li!”
