# Distinct noise from laptop on animations: HDD or CPU/GPU coil whine?

Since I bought a new laptop with HDD and i7-8550U I started noticing high-pitched noises on every animation in the game. Anyone else noticed this? Could it be that SDL or Cata read tiles file on every animation? I hope not. I’ll try launching it from SSD later.

I was briefly playing Cataclysm on my girlfriend’s laptop recently and I noticed it making sounds similar to those you describe.

Can you please tell what CPU it has and whether it has HDD or SSD? Mine is Dell Vostro 5471

No SSD, I imagine the sound was the HDD

It’s not HDD, tried playing on SSD and hearing the same noises.
