# Chop up logs

So yeah, I can’t figure out how to chop up logs. I press the \* key, ande then E. It then tells me that I can’t do that here. I can’t seem to do it anywhere. I do have a wood axe by the way. Is that a glitch? What should I do?

1. 'g’rab a log
2. 'a’ctivate your wood axe
3. select that log in your inventory
4. ???
5. profit

This is an unfortunate naming issue we need to take a look at.
You can chop down a tree(terrain) using an axe or chainsaw and the construction menu to create logs (terrain)
You chop up logs(terrain) using an axe or chainsaw and the construction menu to create logs(item) (see the problem?)
Then you can cut up a log(item) by 'a’pplying an axe or wood saw to get 2x4s.
By the way, it says to do this in the description for the log item…

For simplicity’s sake why not rename all occurrances of log (terrain) into tree trunk?
